Definitions

  • EURYPTERID innovated low-drag flotation platform relates to the mass production of unique marine vessels with environmentally friendly propulsion systems, that can be customizable yet mass produced and waste less money and resources in the manufacturing process.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a universally standardized floatation platform -with or without built-in electric drive engines and/or battery banks- that can withstand a pre-set weight load of custom boat design architecture to be mounted on top of the platform, disregarding the design consideration for a unique hull to each of the designed architecture.
  • This invention could serve as the basis for numerous schemes of yachts, ferries and other custom boat designs.
  • the floatation platform is engineered to support a pre-set weight load, allowing for the over-fit of a flexible and customizable architecture.
  • the floatation platform also exhibits reduced drag with the innovated hull replacement system, allowing for the installation of low-power green propulsion systems without sacrificing speed.
  • EURYPTERID flotation platform acts as a universal hull replacement by combining four separate submergible capsules that are underwater at all times, which are connected together and linked to a platform structure that sits outside and higher than the water level at all times, on top of which the customizable boat architecture would be mounted.
  • Each submergible capsule has the shape of a water droplet, placed horizontally, as [this shape] is very hydro-dynamically efficient, resulting in a very low drag coefficient.
  • the submergible capsules are placed in such a way that two are aligned next to each other in the front, and the other two aligned together behind them, all being connected to the upper platform.
  • the assembled pattern of the capsules gives the invention a virtually steady and stable platform at multiple sea levels.
  • the entire structure of the floatation platform is manufactured using advanced processes and lightweight material, giving the customizable boat architecture a higher permissible weight.
  • Each submergible capsule is sealed and waterproof, allowing for the installation of electric drive motors and/or battery banks inside, yet the capsules may be accessed for routine maintenance.
  • the center of gravity for each submerged capsule with its' fixed inner components is engineered to be the same as the other capsules, relative to the upper platform, yielding a virtually stable base to work with.
  • a standard floatation platform with the four capsules submerged would result in a displaced water volume equivalent to the sum of the volume of the four capsules. Therefore, the calculated weight of this summed volume of water minus the weight of the structure itself and that of the fixed inner components in each capsule yields the permissible weight load of the customized architecture to be mounted on the platform.
  • bigger standard floating platforms with larger submerged capsules, and hence greater displaced volume would be used.
