Description
SPECIFICATION
Damping toilers ump r T©ehnleal flsifd of th® invention:
The present invention refers to a damping motion bumper, absorbing impacts incurred from rear collisions to trailers, semi-trailers and trucks used in transport of goods en. route or in parked positions in such a manner that reduces inertia forces applied on the driver and passenger in the respective vehicle and thus, reduces possible Injuries.
State of the art:
Today, injuries and/or deaths resulting from rear collisions to trailers, semi-trailers and trucks occur due to extreme forces applied to passengers or other vehicles dragged under the vehicle since the rear bumper mechanism does not include any energy damping system or features that prevent other vehicles from getting under the vehicle. The current bumpers which do not include the feature of impact absorption are solid- mounted on vehicle frames. Since their designs do not feature impact absorption and there is no energy absorbing system to absorb the motion power during a collision, the kinetic energy generated from vehicle movements causes permanent deformation of both vehicles as a result of crash on rear bumper.
Furthermore, damages on vehicle frames and bumpers create certain problems, for example, transportation safety, load safety, environmental safety and driving safety. Damaged parts resulting from a crash require a difficult and demanding repair service workmanship. Damaged vehicle frame and bumper create adverse conditions to environmental safety and driving safety. Accordingly, this leads to bumper's failure to completely fulfil! safety duties and as a result, prevents transportation processes from being safely carried out.
i
Technical difficulties that the invention aims to solve:
With regard to the damping motion bumper and energy absorbing system, which are subject to the invention, the bumper is not connected directly to the vehicie frame. Connection is established through the energy absorbing system contributing to damping and it has a hinge system that adds a motion capability.
The system subject to the invention, through its design, allows a safe damping motion to be ensured in low and medium speed impacts thanks to the hinge used between the bumper end and the frame connection. The system in question includes a certain level of flexibility, bending in low speed impacts and preventing damages on the system by bending. In any impact on the bumper area or in any vehicle collision, the system prevents the colliding vehicle from getting under the trailer, semi-trailer or truck, minimizes the intensity of the impact and prevents damages on the frame connected to the bumper, in this way, the colliding vehicle can stay in the safe zone after the accident and possible damage or breakage of the vehicle frame and buffer area is avoided. Replacing the old energy absorbing system by easily removing it and attaching the one kept as spare in the vehicle through the hinged connections enables the vehicie to continue without any violation of traffic rules in damages resulting from a collision or an impact. In all impacts, power is damped and damaging of the vehicle frame and bumper is prevented, enabling the bumper to remain in use and the vehicie to continue without any violation of traffic rules. When the main components are not damaged, service costs are lowered too. The operating system and functionality of all these parts facilitate convenient operation of the bumper mechanism. Furthermore, the mechanism prevents the colliding vehicie from getting under the trailer, semi-trailer or truck as the mechanism moves towards the ground and reduces the distance between the ground and the bumper at the moment of collision.
With the system subject to this invention, operating life of the vehicie frame and bumper area is prolonged and safe operating conditions required for the vehicle frame and bumper mechanism to be free from damages are maintained. The system does not create any difficulty for operating functionality of the buffer mechanism, nor does it pose any hazard on load safety, environmental safety and driving safety, and it ensures safety.
