Selon un mode de réalisation, la présente invention concerne un dispositif d'affichage comprenant : une unité de réception servant à recevoir un contenu comprenant une image à grande gamme dynamique (HDR) et les métadonnées du contenu (les métadonnées contiennent une ou plusieurs informations représentant la grande gamme dynamique de l'image, le pic de luminance de l'image et la courbe de luminance de l'image); et une unité de commande, l'unité de commande obtenant un niveau moyen de luminance (APL) de l'image inclus dans le contenu reçu, détectant le pic de luminance de l'unité d'affichage correspondant à l'APL obtenu, et effectuant un mappage tonal de l'image sur la base du pic de luminance détecté et des métadonnées reçues.
