Definitions
- the present invention refers to a method for protection of group of independent documents, which are bound in a single complete document, by means of perforation against counterfeit, forgery or illegal fraudulent use.
- Document WO9718092A1 shows a method, where there is a perforation of an image with wholes with a defined size so that the image is visible in a transmitted and non-visible in a reflected light.
- Document US2006006236A1 describes method that holes with elliptical shape are perforated, which are cross oriented for achieving different images depending on the viewing angle.
- EP0936975B1 is revealed a method for obtaining shades of gray by means of round holes with different diameter that depends on a level of gray. Any of the previously described methods displays the perforation over a single stand-alone document.
- WO2013143007A1 depictures a method for protecting of multilayered group of different layers combined into one, where the perforation is accomplished only to a part of the layers composing the group.
- the present invention refers to a method that allows at the same time protection against counterfeit, forgery or illegal fraudulent use of the group of independent documents, which are bounded together and represent a single complete document. That type of bonded documents can not be separated due to the relation of the information among the individual documents, which constitute it.
- the group of documents can be composed of two or more security documents. Each of them is created separately as in the most of the cases at least one of them is dependent on the other. In that way a hierarchical structure is formed. Whereas a separation of any of the dependant documents leads to its illicit use as it is bound to other group of documents for the purpose of forgery or fraud.
- the present invention also aims to identify unambiguously any attempt to divide the group of documents to its constituents as well as to authenticate the illicit use of the separated document in the other similar group of documents.
- the bonding can be done by means of gluing, stitching, bookbinding or any other method, which are not a subject of the present invention.
- a personalizing element is selected from someone of the documents.
- the personalizing element can represent a sign, a logo, a serial number or other distinctive visual or graphical element from any of the documents forming the group of documents. That element is processed by means of methods for image digitalization and processing in order to achieve an image suitable for perforation. All that is followed by the application of a perforation of the image simultaneously through all documents of the group of bonded documents. The perforation passes from end to end, thoroughly and completely through all independent documents from the group of documents.
- Type of the applied perforation can be different as it is described in the above mentioned documents of the state of prior art or any other kind of perforation.
- Size of the perforation, a dimension of the holes or a distance between them depends on the type of the material of the constituent documents as well as a type of the adhesive material in case the documents are adhered to each other.
- the perforation can be carried out by different means that are well known to the techniques such as a laser or mechanical perforation.
- the laser perforation gives very good results as achieves complex images with very good density and resolution.
- a laser beam of different wavelength can be used for obtaining best results.
- the applied perforation protects the bonded document against counterfeit, because it is a security feature that reveals the originality of the document and authenticates the validity of its creation, i.e. its binding from several independent documents.
- FIG. 1. - represents a diagram showing the method for protection of group of documents by means of perforation
- Fig.2 - it is shown the protection of group of documents as the graphical element (logo) from on of the constituent documents is thoroughly and end-to-end perforated through the group of documents.
- Fig.3. - depicts other preferred embodiment for the protection of a visa sticker, where it is perforated a photographic image of the document owner.
- Fig.4. another typical preferred embodiment in respect to the protection of the visa sticker, where it is perforated a biometric image of the document owner.
- Fig.5. reveals preferred embodiment, in which is protected a personalization page of the passport and a whole passport booklet.
- Fig.6. - shows the protection of a certificate and a tax stamp by means of perforation via both the certificate and the tax stamp.
- Fig.7 - presents the protection of an electronic passport and the visa by means of perforation of the image of the owner of the passport which is recorded on the electronic ship.
- the element 3 is handled by means of different types of digitalization and image processing means, which could be preceded by a digital image capturing of the element 3 from the document la or the element 3 to be received digitally from a database or other way for a digital transmission.
- a pattern for perforation 4 is achieved.
- the perforation 5 is carried out simultaneously through all documents 1 a, 1 b and 1 c of the bonded group of documents 2. Perforated holes 5a pass thoroughly and completely through all of the documents la, lb and l c.
- the visa is protected against counterfeit and forgery, because it is personalized with the perforation and can not be unstuck and place on another passport.
- the passport and the visa sticker are bonded together as the perforated image is also on the passport page and any attempt to be removed will be undisputedly identified.
- FIG. 1 Another preferred embodiment is regarding the protection of the visa sticker is shown on fig.4.
- a digital camera 10 or a biometric reader (fingerprint or iris) 16 captures respectively a digital photography or fingerprint/iris image of the passport owner.
- the acquired digital image is sent to the control module 12 that controls the laser 13, which applies the perforation 5 and/or 5b simultaneously through the visa sticker and the adjacent passport page on which the visas sticker is adhered.
- a comparing module 15 scans the applied perforation and sent it for a comparison the control module 12.
- the perforation is either an actual face image of the passport owner and/or the biometric image such as fingerprint 5b.
- the passport itself consists of the passport data page and the passport booklet as the data page is stitched to the booklet.
- the data page can be of a paper material that is laminated after personalization, i.e. a process of applying owner's personal data and photograph on it as well as card of plastic material.
- the passport is valid even if the data page is separated from the passport booklet but it is apparent that the data page belongs to the booklet.
- a blank passport 17 that consists of the passport booklet 19 and the data page 18.
- the process of personalization in which the personal data and the photograph 8 are applied results to a ready passport 6.
- the ready passport 6 is submitted to the laser 13 that applies the perforation 5 of the photograph of the owner of the passport simultaneously through the personalized data page 18a and one or more pages 20 of the passport booklet 19.
- FIG.6 Another preferred embodiment depicted on fig.6. is for the protection of a certificate 21 that is issued and its validity is endorsed with a tax stamp 22 by sticking 22 over the certificate 21 and thus having an endorsed certificate 23. After that the perforation is carried out of the perforated image 5c of a serial number and/or a sign(logo) simultaneously through the tax stamp and the certificate.
- FIG.7 is presented an example of preferred embodiments in which an electronic passport 23 with the image of the owner 8 which is recorded on a electronic ship 24.
- On the passport is placed the visa sticker 7 and we have the group of documents 2.
- the image 8 from the electronic chip is processed to the image for perforation 9 and is perforated the perforation 5 through the visa sticker and the adjacent page on which the visa sticker is adhered.
