Description
Child car seat with forgotten-child alarm system
This invention relates to a child safety seat for cars with anti-abandonment alarm system.
More particularly, the invention relates to a safety seat for cars, of the type used for the restraint of children and commonly defined seat.
More particularly, the present invention relates to the field of automotive passive safety, and aims to provide a child safety seat in which are integrated a plurality of sensors and electronic devices adapted to detect the permanence of the child occupying the seat inside a vehicle in conjunction with the going out of the car itself of one or more adults.
The problem that this innovation is to solve concerns the possible abandonment of small children inside a car, unfortunately not so an uncommon event, especially given the tendency of small children to fall asleep during a car ride and the hurry joined with the tiredness of so many parents.
The tragic news stories of children forgotten inside cars who died of hyperthermia have generated proposals and research of solutions to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. There are about 600
cases of abandonment of this type registered over the past decade in the US alone, and also in Italy the numbers are alarming.
To solve this problem devices have been proposed that are based on the use of two cushions connected to each other, one for the driver and one for the seat of the child. When the driver leaves the seat and the child is still at his place, the sensors in the cushions trigger an audible or visual signal. Another device works with a sensor in the seat belt of the car seat and activates an acoustic signal when the driver goes away and the child is still in the seat with the seat belt fastened.
In this context it is included the solution according to the present invention that aims to provide a child safety seat for automobiles with anti- abandonment alarm system which is able to ensure a high degree of reliability and an optimum alarm procedure, such as to guarantee the almost absolute certainty that the child unintentionally abandoned can be rescued quickly, even by people who have no knowledge of the location of the car with the child inside.
The solution according to the invention is particularly advantageous especially because it
consists in a safety seat for automobiles with anti- abandonment alarm system that intervenes in an integral and complete way with visual, audio signals, opening a few inches the car windows to ventilate the cabin making visible the child even in case f tinted windows. Last important function is to send SMS messages asking for help to some previously set numbers. The safety seat for cars with anti-abandonment alarm system according to the present invention acts to capture the attention not only of the parent but also that of passersby .
The purpose of this innovation is therefore to provide a safety seat for cars with anti-abandonment alarm system that allows to overcome the limits of the seats according to the prior art and to obtain the technical results previously described.
A further purpose of the innovation is that said seat can be made with substantially contained costs, both as regards production costs and as regards the management costs .
Another object of the innovation is to propose a safety seat for cars with anti-abandonment alarm system that is simple, safe and reliable.
It is therefore a specific object of the present
invention a child safety seat for cars with anti- abandonment alarm system which includes at least one sensor of sitting of the seat, at least one remote sensor of sitting configured to be applied to the driver's seat, an electronic processing system, a dialer module and a telephone connection module, connection means of said at least one sensor of sitting and said at least one remote sensor of sitting with said processing system, means connecting said processing system with the control unit of the car and power supply means .
Moreover, according to the innovation, said child safety seat may further comprise a remote acoustic alarm and said power supply means can be integrated to the electrical system of the car or stand-alone, possibly rechargeable by connection to the electrical system of the car.
In particular, according to the innovation, said processing system can be a programmable logic controller or PLC, said telephone dialer may be integrated in a microcontroller in combination with a universal interface board for telephone connection modules, said telephone connection module can be a GSM module and/or a GPS module.
Still, according to the present invention, said child safety seat may further comprise a touch screen interfaced to said PLC, and at least one remote sensor of sitting applicable to the seat next to that of the driver.
The present invention will now be described, for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiment, with particular reference to the accompanying drawings, in which
- Figure 1 shows the front side of the support structure of a child safety seat for cars with anti- abandonment alarm system according to the invention, with indication of the insertion points of presence sensors ,
- Figure 2 shows the rear side of the child safety seat of Figure 1,
- Figure 3 shows the right side of the seat of Figure 1, and
- Figure 4 shows the left side of the seat of Figure 1.
Referring to the figures, the child safety seat for vehicles with anti-abandonment alarm system according to the present invention is globally indicated by the reference number 10 and is composed of
a support structure 11 made of plastic material, covered with padding 12, and includes a restraint system (not shown) , ie a series of belts for the baby sling. More particularly, the support structure 11 defines a seat 13 and a backrest 14, below the surface of at least one of which and preferably below the surface of each of which, according to the present invention, one or more sensors 15 of sitting (generally of Pressure activated type) are placed.
In particular, then, the reliability of the child safety seat 10 for cars with anti-abandonment alarm system according to the present invention makes use of the sinergy of a programmable logic controller or PLC 16, to which is delegated the management of the whole device, according to the mode of operation that will be exposed later, and a microcontroller 17, which works as a telephone dialer in combination with a universal interface card for GSM modules and a GSM module (not shown) , as well as an antenna 18. The control of the operation of the anti-abandonment alarm system is possible by changing the settings of the PLC 16, via a control interface that can be made by way of example by a touch screen 19.
An advantage of the realization in programmable
logic is the flexibility of the alarm system, not only due to the possibility to modify the operating parameters by reprogramming the PLC 16, but also due to the possibility of implements of the system itself. For example, it is possible to replace the GSM card with a GPS card, allowing to get also the detection of the position of the car. This makes it possible to intervene by helping a child unintentionally abandoned in a car also for people contacted by the alarm system and who do not know the position of the car.
The child safety seat 10 for cars with anti- abandonment alarm system according to the present invention further comprises one or more remote sensors of sitting (not shown) , connected to the seat 10 by means of an interface 20 and a cable (or wireless) , configured to be applied to the driver's seat and connecting means (not shown) with the control unit of the car. Additional remote sensors of sitting (not shown) can also be provided, configured to be applied to the seat next to that of the driver.
The alarm system is completed by a remote acoustic alarm, ie a siren (not shown) , and can be equipped with a power source integrated in the electric system of the car or of an autonomous battery, possibly
rechargeable by connection to the electrical system of the car .
Still with reference to the figures, the child safety seat for vehicles with anti-abandonment alarm system according to the present invention comprises a series of operation indicators, connections and buttons of immediate activation of the various functions which will be described later, such as: an emergency button 21, a power supply detector 22, a selector 23 and a serial port 24 for reprogramming the PLC even in case of malfunction of the touch screen 19, or in place of it, a USB port 25 for the programming of the microprocessor 17, one or two warning lights 26 of the insertion of the phone dialer, a button 27 for manual override of the siren, a socket 28 of power for the battery.
The detailed operation of the child safety seat 10 for cars with anti-abandonment alarm system according to the present innovation provides for four conditions for the activation of the alarm system, namely:
1. child resting on the seat 10 (detection by sensors of sitting 15) ,
2. stop of the motor of the car,
3. opening of the door of the car, on the driver's side, and then activation of the limit switch, and
4. leaving of the driver (detection by remote sensors of sitting) .
Optionally, a fifth condition could also be considered for activating the alarm system, ie the presence of a passenger in the front seat next to the driver.
If the above conditions are detected, the alarm system is activated following a sequence of four progressive stages, whose activation times can be programmed via the PLC 16, namely:
1. blinking of the direction indicators of the car (arrows) ,
2. opening of a few centimeters of the door windows to ventilate the passenger compartment and, in the case of tinted windows, to make more visible the child by a bystander and to enable the child to be heard in the case he cries,
3. activating of the alarm siren, and
4. activating of the dialer with sending SMS messages or voice messages asking for help to one or more telephone numbers previously set.
The alarm system can provide for message asking for help being repeated after previously set time intervals and that can be modified via the PLC 16.
Finally, adding a PIR sensor (passive infrared sensor) , the child safety seat 10 for cars with anti- abandonment alarm system according to the present innovation can extend its operational potential also to the rescue of animals (dogs, cats) eventually abandoned in the car, regardless of the presence of the child in the seat itself.
The present invention has been described for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, but it is to be understood that variations and/or modifications can be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the relevant scope of protection, as defined by the appended claims.
