[0023] A user may want to enjoy different entertainment contents in different places. Inventors found that people normally have different decoration styles in different places. For example, a user may select a cooler color for his/her living room while a warmer color for his/her bedroom. Therefore, furniture in different places may appear different features, such as color, texture, etc. Based on these appearance feature(s), a portable device taken by the user can determine where the user is, and control playing corresponding audio/video contents.
[0024] FIG. 1 schematically illustrates a control device 100 according to one embodiment. The control device 100 may be in communication with a media player 200 through wireless connection, such as by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Such that, the control device 100 can control the media player 200 to present corresponding contents. In some embodiments, the control device 100 may be integrated with the media player 200. In some embodiments, the control device 100 may include one or more components for presenting media contents. For example, the control device 100 may include a speaker, such that the media player 200 may send the corresponding contents to the control device 100, and the control device 100 can present the audio contents using the speaker. In such configuration, even the media player 200 is placed in another room, the user can enjoy the contents using the control device 100.
[0025] The control device 100 may include a sensor to detect where it is placed, so as to determine where the user is and control the media player 200 to present corresponding contents. [0026] FIG. 2 schematically illustrates a block diagram of the control device 100 according to one embodiment. The control device 100 may include a sensor 101 , a processing device 103 and a communication device 105.
[0027] The sensor 101 may be adapted to detecting where the control device 100 is placed. Normally, the user may place the control device 100 to a surface when using it to play music or video files. For example, the user may put the control device 100 on a table, or insert the control device 100 into a docketing station, or the like. It could be understood that the control device 100 may be attached to a surface of a piece of furniture when in use. As described above, the user may have distinguished decoration styles for hi/her different rooms. That is to say, the control device 100 may be attached to a surface whose appearance feature may vary with the place in which the user stays. Therefore, the sensor 101 may be an image sensor capable of sensing appearance feature of the surface to which the control device 100 is attached. In some embodiments, the sensor 101 may be camera for capturing a picture of the surface.
[0028] The processing device 103 may analyze the sensed appearance feature and determine what contents to be presented. In some embodiments, the processing device 103 may extracting at least one feature of a picture captured by the sensor 101 using image processing technology, and thus determine which type the surface is based on the extracted at least one feature. [0029] Mappings between surface types and contents to be presented may be defined in advance. In some embodiments, the user may select files to be played in a specific place to form a playlist, and define a mapping between the playlist and a type of a surface in the specific place. In some embodiments, the user may define a mapping between the type of the surface and a content provider, for example, a network radio website, or the like. [0030] In some embodiments, the processing device 103 may control illustrating an interface, such that the user can define the mappings by operating on the interface. In some embodiments, the display screen may be a touch screen, such that the user can input instructions directly through the touch screen.
[0031] Specifically, for configuration, the user may select a surface in a room, normally a table surface in the particular room, and input a user instruction. According to the user instruction, the processing device 103 may control the sensor 101 to capture an image of the selected surface which containing appearance feature of the surface. The processing device 103 may analyze at least one appearance feature of the image to determine which type the surface is. For example, if the appearance feature is color, the processing device 103 may extract the color illustrate in the image. For another example, if the appearance feature is texture, the processing device 103 may analyze texture feature illustrated in the image. Analyzing image features may be implemented using image processing technology, which is well known in the art. Based on the analysis, the processing device 103 may specify the obtained at least one appearance feature as belonged to a first type of surface. As such, once the sensor 101 senses the appearance feature again, the processing device 103 may determine a surface having the sensed appearance feature as the first type of surface. After defining the first type of surface, in some embodiments, the processing device 103 may control the display screen to illustrate a first interface through which the user can form a first playlist and define a first mapping between the first playlist and the first type of surface. In some embodiments, the first interface may illustrate several available content providers, and the user can select one of the content providers and define a second mapping between the selected content provider and the first type of surface. Such that, contents may be assigned to different kinds of appearance feature in advance. In some embodiments, the user may define a name for the first type of interface through the first interface. For example, the user may define the first type of interface as "living room", "bed room", or the like. Similarly, the user may repeat above operations to define mappings between playlists/content providers and other surface types which may cover types of surfaces corresponding to places where the user may usually stay. A lookup table may be established for storing the mappings.
[0032] After such configuration, once the user place the control device 100 on an example surface which has been selected during the configuration, the sensor 101 may sense appearance feature of the example surface, the processing device 103 may analyze the appearance feature and based on which determine the type of the example surface. According to the determined surface type, the processing device 103 may select from the lookup table a playlist or content provider previously assigned to the determined surface type, and control the media device 200 to present contents of the playlist or contents from the content provider. In some embodiments, the processing device 103 may generate a control instruction to control the media player 200 to play the corresponding contents, and control the communication device 105 to transmit the control instruction to the media player 200. In some embodiments, the control instruction may control the media player 200 to send the contents to the control device 100, and the processing device 103 may control the control device 100 to present the contents received from the media player 200 through the communication device 105.
[0033] While various aspects and embodiments have been disclosed herein, other aspects and embodiments will be apparent to those skilled in the art. The various aspects and embodiments disclosed herein are for purposes of illustration and are not intended to be limiting, with the true scope and spirit being indicated by the following claims.

9. A method for controlling a media player, comprising: a control device sensing appearance feature of a surface to which the control device is attached; and controlling the media player to present contents previously assigned to the sensed appearance feature.
10. The method according to claim 9, wherein the control device senses at least one of color or texture.
1 1 . The method according to claim 9, wherein the control device generates a control instruction of presenting the contents previously assigned to the sensed appearance feature, and sends the control instruction to the media player.
12. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the control device generates the control instruction to control the media player to send the contents previously assigned to the sensed appearance feature to the control device, sends the control instruction to the media player, receives the contents previously assigned to the sensed appearance feature from the media player and presents the contents received from the media player.
13. The method according to claim 9, wherein the control device analyzes the sensed appearance feature to determine which type the surface is; selects, from a lookup table, a playlist previously assigned to the determined type of the surface, where the lookup table contains surface types and their corresponding playlists; and generates a control instruction of presenting contents of the selected playlist.
14. The method according to claim 9, wherein the control device analyzes the sensed appearance feature to determine which type the surface is; selects, from a lookup table, a content provider previously assigned to the determined type of the surface, where the lookup table contains surface types and their corresponding content providers; and control the media player to present contents provided by the selected content provider.
15. A method for controlling a media player, comprising: a control device sensing at least one appearance feature of a surface to which the control device is attached; determining which one of a plurality of pre-defined surfaces the surface is based on the sensed at least one appearance feature; and controlling the media player to present contents previously assigned to the determined pre-defined surface.
16. A control device for controlling a media player, comprising: a sensor adapted to sensing appearance features of surfaces to which the sensor is attached; and a processing device configured to: after the sensor senses at least one appearance feature of a surface to which the sensor is attached, identify which one of a plurality of pre-defined surfaces the surface is based on the sensed at least one appearance feature; and control the media player to present contents previously assigned to the identified pre-defined surface.
