Abstract

The invention relates to a water attenuating system and a method of attenuating rainwater flow, particularly but not exclusively for roofs of buildings and/or other fixed structures. The system (10) comprises a number of modules (12) and a mounting structure (14) for the module(s). The mounting structure is adapted for securement to a building or the like (16). Each module comprises a container (20) having a base (22) and at least one sidewall (24), the module further comprising a lid (40) which is releasably securable to the container. A water-absorbent material (30) is located in the container (20) between a water permeable top layer (32) and a water permeable bottom layer (34). The lid and the base have apertures (72, 74) to allow the passage of water therethrough. The system includes a number of spacers (54) between the mounting structure (14) and the container (20) for separating the base (22) from the building in use. There is also provided a method of attenuating rainwater flow.
