Description
DESCRIPTION
A spring valve under safety for airbags Technical Field
The present invention is related to the valves which allow the products carried with transport vehicles such as load-carrying lorry, truck and ship to be transported to the desired destination without any problem and which are located between said products. The present invention is particularly related to locating the spring at the lower section of the valve, said spring being used in the valves through which air inlet to the airbags is realized.
Prior Art
Today, the products inside the trailer of the load-carrying lorries and trucks get damaged when they crash into each other or the trailer due to the asphalt problems on the road or sudden braking and acceleration. There exist various methods to prevent the products from being damaged. Some of these methods include wrapping the carried product with craft paper (foam) and fastening the products inside the trailer by means a belt. A different method, on the other hand, includes locating an airbag, which softens the possible impacts, between each product unit loaded to the trailer. Said airbag gains impact-damping property by being inflated. A valve is utilized for such inflating processes.
The present invention aims to avoid the accidents that may occur during transportation of the products in the truck or ship cargo in the prior art.
Figure 5 represents the demounted view of the valve (60) of the prior art while Figure 6 represents the cross-sectional perspective view of the same when mounted. In the spring system of the valves used in said figures, the spring (20) is disposed in the filling section (61 ) of the valve (60). This, in turn, causes the spring (20) to pop out in case of a breakage etc. of the valve rod (31 ). The spring pops out when the spring caps get damaged or broken, as well. The spring popping out not only may harm any part of the user's body but also makes the airbag dysfunctional as the valve loses its functionality without the spring. The end part of the inflating gun is attached to the spring or the spring cap in the state of the art and the gun ruins the spring system while being pulled back, and this in turn causes a pointless cost.
In the state of the art, if there is any dust and dirt in the filling environment, the particles in direct contact with the spring may get stuck in the spring and hinder functioning thereof.
During the transportation of the edged and pointed products in the state of the art, the airbag may lose air through the valve when the edges or pointed ends of the product being transported press against the spring section. This causes the products being transported to be damaged.
During the application in the state of the art, the user inserts a thin stick etc. into the valve gasket in order to deflate the air inside the airbag in a quick and easy manner. This ruins the spring and makes the airbag dysfunctional.
As the process of fastening with a belt while loading the products into the container or the trailer is challenging, labor processes are also challenging. Besides, this method does not avoid the possible damages of the products at the desired level.
In the state of the art, the process of fixating the products to be transported on the trailer takes a very long time. Since the craft (foam) material, another method used in the state of the art, is wrapped all around the product, the product volume increases, and this in turn reduces the amount of the product to be loaded to the trailer. Moreover, the craft material used therein costs a lot.
As a result of literature searches, various configurations with respect to said airbag valves have been encountered. One of them is the utility model numbered 2003/00804 (Int. CI. B65D 81/00) and titled "An airbag made of craft paper". The abstract of the invention is as follows: "The present invention comprises the process steps of combining the open ends of the linear tubular high-density polyethylene nylon by means of a heat source in the airbags made of craft paper located between the cargos loaded to the transportation vehicles such as lorry, truck, airplane, ship and train in order to be used in the transportation sector, connecting the valve to the orifice suitable for the valve diameter on the nylon, giving a tubular form to the craft paper by adhering the lateral adherence surface to the other lateral adherence surface by means of an adhesive so as to incorporate the nylon, and combining the upper opening adherence surface formed in a tubular shape with the lower opening adherence surface by means of an adhesive and closing the same."
Another example with respect to said configuration is the utility model numbered 2007/04383 (Int. CI. F16K 21/00) and titled "Air-Filling Valve". The abstract of invention is as follows: "The present invention is related to the air-filling valve which is used in the airbags of the flat load pallets inside the containers, characterized in comprising an O-ring having an opening therein, a body mounted on the O-ring, a rod placed inside the opening, and a spring."
To conclude, developments in parallel with the advancing technology with respect to the airbag valves are being made; therefore, new embodiments which will eliminate the disadvantages mentioned above and provide solution for the existing systems are needed.
Objects of the Invention
The present invention relates to airbag valves meeting the abovementioned requirements, eliminating all the disadvantages and introducing some additional advantages. The object of the invention is to minimize the damage during the transportation and to enable the cargos to be safely transported by balancing the same via airbags inflated at a suitable and standard pressure.
Another object of the invention is to bring solution to the problems which may arise along with the spring problems, thanks to the spring placed into the base cover housing. Thus, the airbags produced for multiple uses can be used several times.
Another object of the invention is to continue the air-filling process even when the valve rod gets broken. Still another object of the invention is to enable the functioning area of the filling section to be less complicated by placing the spring at the lower section instead of the filling section, and thus to facilitate filling-emptying processes.
Another object of the invention is to prevent the spring from popping out, and thus to reduce the risk level of the valve in terms of occupational safety.
Yet another object of the invention is to save on labor force as the possible spring problems are avoided.
The airbag which has an increased number of uses, comprises facilitated filling-emptying processes, and becomes safer will be preferred by the customers more and will contribute to
the company and national economy thanks to the airbags exported especially to the Europe and the United States.
The spring of the valve is designed in a way to be placed at the lower section. A housing is formed in the base cover and the spring is placed therein, thereby being left out of .the contact area during the filling-emptying processes. A stable functioning is provided thanks to the fact that the top of the spring is smoothly fitted to the valve gasket. In this manner; any slide, unbalanced filling, and gasket-stuck are avoided thanks to the housing in the base cover and the flat spring top. Thanks to the fact that the spring is placed at the lower section instead of the upper section, the functioning area at the upper section is enlarged and the filling-emptying processes will be easily performed. Even when the spring which cannot be directly contacted rarely breaks down or gets broken, it will not pop out of the valve and pose any danger. In order to achieve the abovementioned objects, a valve enabling to inflate the airbags is developed which comprises a lower section composed of a base cover having air gaps and a gasket; further comprises a filling section composed of a valve rod disposed at the upper section of said gasket, a welding surface containing a valve rod opening into which said valve rod will be inserted, a rod cap attached to the valve rod which is inserted into the valve rod opening; and eliminates the problems to be caused by the spring by locating said spring - which enables said gasket to move- between the base cover and the gasket.
All the structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the invention will be more clearly understood thanks to the following figures and detailed description composed with reference to these figures. For this reason, it is necessary that the evaluation be done by taking into consideration these figures and detailed description.

Detailed Description of the Invention
Within this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the airbag valves according to the invention are described only for a better understanding of the subject without any limiting effects.
A valve (60) enabling to inflate the airbags (70) formed by combining a lower section (62) and a filling section (61), wherein said lower section (62) is composed of a base cover (10) having air gaps (12) and a gasket (30) and wherein said filling section (61 ) is composed of a valve rod (31 ) disposed at the upper section of said gasket (30), a welding surface (40). comprising a valve rod opening (41 ) into which said valve rod (31 ) will be inserted, a rod cap
(50) attached to the valve rod (40) which is inserted into the valve rod opening (41 ), characterized in that the spring (20) located between said base cover (10) and gasket (30) comprises a base spring housing (1 1 ) to which said spring (20) will be attached on said base cover (10).
Mounting principle;
Figure-1 represents the exploded view of the valve (60) according to the invention. Said valve (60) is composed of two parts; the filling section (61 ) and the lower section (62). The filling section (61 ) is disposed on the outer surface (72) of the airbag (70) to which the valve (60) is mounted. Disposed on the inner surface (71 ) of the airbag (70) is, on the other hand, the lower section.
Figure-2 represents the perspective view of the lower section (62) of the valve (60) according to the invention. The mounting process starts firstly from the lower section (62). The spring (20) will be located between the base cover and the gasket (30) which form the lower section (62). The spring (20) is inserted into the base cover housing (12) disposed in the base cover (10). And, the gasket (30) is placed on the spring (20).
After being inserted into the valve rod opening (41 ) provided on the welding surface (40) which is one of the components forming the filling section (61 ), the valve rod (31 ) provided at the upper section of the gasket (30) is fixed with the rod cap (50) from the other side. Thus, the valve rod (50) is prevented from unintentionally coming out of the valve rod opening (41 ).
The mounting process described above is performed by locating the airbag (70) between the filling section (61 ) and the lower section (62).
Functioning principle;
Figure 3 represents the view of the valve (60), whose mounting on the airbag (70) is completed, from the outer surface (72). As seen in the figure, the filling process is started by inserting a pump suitable for the valve (60) into the filling section (61 ) and pushing the same downward.
Figure 4 represents the view of the valve (60), whose mounting on the airbag (70) is completed, from the inner surface (71 ). During the filling process mentioned above, the valve rod (31) starts to move downward upon inserting a pump into the filling section (61 ), thus into the valve rod (31) and pushing the same downward. The gasket (30) in which the valve rod (31 ) is placed also slides downward and compresses the spring (20) thereunder. The gasket (30) slides at a desired level thanks to the restricting piece (32). This level is defined in compliance with the very moment when the restricting piece (32) contacts with the base cover, namely in compliance with the size of the restricting piece.
When the gasket (30) slides downward, the air entering through the space formed between the valve rod (31 ) and the valve rod opening (41 ) passes through the air gaps (12) in the base cover (10) and allows the airbag (70) to be inflated. When it is desired to end the filling process, it will be enough to pull back the pump which is inserted into the filling section (61 ). As soon as the pump is pulled back, the force applied to the valve rod (31 ), thus to the gasket (30), will be removed and the compressed spring (20) will enable the gasket (30) to move upward by transferring the force thereon into the gasket (30). As a result of upward movement of the gasket (30), the valve rod (31 ) fits into the valve rod opening (41 ) provided on the welding surface (40) and avoids air outlet thereby.
