Description
図1を用いて、パッケージ11とパッケージ11を包装するフィルム12とを含むフィルム包装物(単に「包装物」とも呼ぶ)1の構成について説明する。図1は、実施の形態に係る開封前の包装物1の斜視図である。
図2は、印刷領域121を説明するための図である。なお、図2は、フィルム12の一部に設けられた印刷領域121を、フィルム12の表面側(すなわち、包装物1の外側)から平面視した図である。印刷領域121は、有色のインキで印刷された印刷部1211と、印刷部1211全体を覆うようにワニス(単に「ニス」とも呼ぶ)でコーティングされ、印刷部1211を保護するコーティング部1212と、平面視上、コーティング部1212の周囲に設けられたグラデーション部1213とを含む。
図4に、グラデーション部1213の構成の一例を示す。なお、図4は、フィルム12の一部に設けられた印刷領域121を、フィルム12の表面側から見た拡大図である。フィルム12には、印刷部1211の面積以上の大きさのコーティング部1212が、印刷部1211を覆うように重ねて形成されている。そして、コーティング部1212の周囲には、グラデーション部1213が設けられている。グラデーション部1213には、ワニスで形成されたドット(「小領域」とも呼ぶ)が列をなすように配置されている。なお、便宜上、図4には列を表す破線を示している。ドットの列は、コーティング部1212の輪郭とほぼ平行に配置されている。なお、図4の例では、ドットの列は印刷部1211の輪郭ともほぼ平行である。また、図4の例では、コーティング部1212から離れるほど(すなわち、印刷部1211から離れるほど)、1列あたりのドットの数が少なくなっている。

図6に、グラデーション部1213の他の例を示す。なお、図6も、フィルム12の一部に設けられた印刷領域121を、フィルム12の表面側から見た拡大図である。図6のグラデーション部1213も、ワニスで形成されたドットが、コーティング部1212の輪郭とほぼ平行な列をなすように配置されている。図6の例では、コーティング部1212から離れるほど、隣の列との間隔が広がる。
図7に、グラデーション部1213の他の例を示す。図7は、図3に示したフィルム12のA-A断面図である。また、図7に示すように、印刷部1211、コーティング部1212及びグラデーション部1213は、フィルム12の裏側に設けられている。なお、フィルム12の裏側とは、包装物1のパッケージ11と接する側である。図7のグラデーション部は、コーティング部1212から離れるほど、ワニスの厚さが薄くなる。換言すれば、グラデーション部1213においては、コーティング部1212から距離が離れるほど、所定の単位面積あたりのワニスの量が減少している。このような印刷は、例えばグラビア印刷(すなわち、凹版印刷)によって実現される。ワニスの厚さが断面視上で線形に変化する態様に限らず、例えばコーティング部1212の輪郭とほぼ平行な列を設け、コーティング部1212から離れるほど段階的にワニスの厚さが減少するようにしてもよい。
図9及び図10を用いて、印刷フィルムの製造方法を説明する。まず、図9に示すように、フィルム12に印刷部1211を形成する。ここで、フィルム12の2つの面のうち印刷を施す側を印刷面とも呼ぶ。印刷面は、パッケージ11をフィルム12で包装した状態において、パッケージ11と接触する面であり、包装物1の内側になる。したがって、印刷面から見ると印刷部1211の文字や図形は、包装物1を外側から見た場合の文字や図形とは裏返しになっている。
次に、図11を用いて比較例に係るフィルム22を説明する。なお、図11は、フィルム22の一部に設けられた印刷領域221を、フィルム22の表面側から見た図である。印刷領域221は、有色のインキで印刷された印刷部2211と、印刷部2211全体を覆うように白インキでコーティングされたコーティング部2212とを含む。印刷部2211を白インキで覆う場合も、例えば印刷部2211が擦れてはげてしまうことを抑制できる。
次に、図12を用いて比較例に係るフィルム32を説明する。なお、図12も、フィルム32の一部に設けられた印刷領域321を、フィルム32の表面側から見た図である。印刷領域321は、有色のインキで印刷された印刷部3211と、印刷部3211全体を覆うようにワニスでコーティングされたコーティング部3212とを含む。ただし、印刷領域321は、グラデーション部を有していない。印刷部3211をワニスで覆う場合も、例えば印刷部3211が擦れてはげてしまうことを抑制できる。
