Приготовление карамелизированного попкорна происходит в карамелизаторе 1. Карамелизатор по принципу нагрева может быть газовым или электрическим. Карамелизатор (котел карамелизатора) 1 располагают вертикально и засыпают в него ингредиенты для приготовления карамели (сахар, вода, масло, ароматизаторы). При медленном перемешивании мешалкой карамель нагревают до 150-170°С. Как правило, уровень карамели в карамелизаторе составляет около 5 см. После того, как карамель нагреется до нужной температуры, в нее добавляют раскрытый попкорн и продолжают перемешивание. Карамелизатор заполняют попкорном примерно на две трети объема. Данная конструкция конвейера позволяет полностью автоматизировать процесс приготовления попкорна. Оператору необходимо подойти только один раз для загрузки сырья и выгрузки готового продукта. Данная конструкция работает следующим образом. Оператор загружает попкорн-полуфабрикат 28 в бак 21, в карамелизатор 1 кладет смесь для карамелизации (Фиг. 4 А) и запускает процесс. Как только смесь нагрелась до необходимой температуры (в диапазоне 150 - 170°С) бак с попкорном автоматически загружается в котел (Фиг. 4Б). После это идет автоматический процесс перемешивания, который длиться 1 - 3 минуты (Фиг. 4В). Как только перемешивание закончится, карамелизатор автоматически опрокидывается, и карамелизированный попкорн 29 попадает на сетку 12 для последующего охлаждения (Фиг. 4Г).
