Description

MODULAR CASING FOR DISPENSERS
DESCRIPTION
This patent relates to vending machines/dispensers for items, gadgets, tokens and objects in general, and in particular it concerns a new modular casing for vending machines.
There are various types of vending machines used to dispense different types of objects or items.
Vending machines can be manually operated machines, in which the insertion of one or two or more coins, banknotes or tokens enables a mechanism, such as the rotation of a control knob, which in turn actuates a plurality of gears and levers designed to dispense an item.
There are also vending machines driven electromechanically, in which the coins, banknotes or tokens inserted are recognized, and when the required amount is reached and upon the push of a button by the user, a special electromechanical mechanism is activated to dispense the corresponding item.
The vending machines of the known type comprise a substantially box- shaped casing, equipped with a base or support feet resting on the ground, suited to contain the machine's mechanisms and devices and one or more compartments containing the objects or items to be dispensed.
Said box-shaped casing is made of a metallic material and comprises one or more openings for the insertion of tokens, coins and/or banknotes, and one or more openings suited to dispense the selected item.
Generally this casing is joined to and in any case integral with the vending machine's operating mechanisms and devices and with the compartments containing the items to be dispensed.
Therefore, the vending machine as a whole is quite heavy. As a result installation, transportation, and handling operations are very difficult.
In addition, since the vending machine is usually located outdoors, the casing is often exposed to elements such as wind, rain, or even to the erosive action of sand or dust when the vending machine is located, for example, in a seaside area.
As a result of this, the metal casing can rust and be damaged, making it necessary to replace the entire vending machine, since often it is not possible to disassemble the vending machine to replace only the casing or the damaged parts of the casing.
To overcome the above drawbacks a new type of modular casing for vending machines has been developed and constructed, this casing being completely made of a plastic material.
The main object of the present invention is to provide a casing that is adaptable for the installation of any type of vending machine, whether mechanical or electromechanical and automatic, and for any type of dispensable item or objects.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a casing that has a variable and modular configuration for the installation for two or more vending machines joined to each other.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a casing that enables quick restocking operations of the objects or items to be dispensed by the vending machine and the rapid collection of the tokens, coins, or banknotes inserted in the vending machine.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a casing that is lightweight and enables quick assembly-disassembly operations of the vending machine to replace the casing itself or parts of it, or to access the mechanical or electromechanical components of the vending machine. These and other direct and complementary objects are achieved by the new modular casing for vending machines, said casing being made of a plastic material.
The main parts of the new casing comprise a supporting base, a front shell, a rear shell and an upper assembly cover, wherein said base, said front and rear shells as well as said cover are entirely made of a plastic material and are designed to be assembled together to create a space suited to contain a vending machine for general items.
According to the invention, said base, said shells and said cover comprise fastening devices for assembly. The design may also include the use of screws or other fixing means intended to constrain the parts forming the casing to one another.
Said front shell comprises at least one opening to allow access to the vending machine, and in particular access to the slots for the insertion of tokens, banknotes or coins, and access to the delivery port for the selected objects or items.
In the preferred embodiment, said front shell is suited to be removably coupled with or fixed to a closing panel at the level of said opening, said panel being hinged, for example, to an edge of the opening in question. Said panel preferably serves as a support for the vending machine, that is, the mechanical and electromechanical devices and components used for the operation of the vending machine as well as the containers of the objects or items to be dispensed are constrained to said panel.
To restock the vending machine and/or collect the tokens, banknotes, or coins inserted, the operator must release said panel, for example by turning it towards the outside of the casing so as to have direct access to the mechanical or electromechanical components, to the coin box, and the containers of items to be dispensed.
The characteristics of the new casing will be better clarified by the following description, with reference to the drawings attached by way of non-limiting example.
Figure 1 shows the new casing (1) completely assembled, while Figure 2 shows a rear view of the new casing (1) completely assembled.
Figure 3 shows the base (2).
Figure 4 shows the front shell (3).
Figure 5 shows the filling panel (34) of the front shell (3).
Figure 6 shows the closing panel (7) suited to be installed on said filling panel (34).
Figure 7 shows the rear shell (4).
The invention relates to a modular casing (1) for vending machines, the main parts of which comprise a supporting base (2), a front shell (3), a rear shell (4) and an upper assembly cover (5), wherein said base (2), said front shell (3), said rear shell (4) and said cover (5) are made entirely of a plastic material and are suited to be assembled together to create a space suited to contain at least one vending machine for objects or items of any kind.
Said supporting base (2), shown in Figure 3, is in any case shaped in such a way as to ensure the stability of the casing, it can have a widened form and/or it can comprise one or more feet or supports, as well as elements, raised edges (21), protrusions and/or seats (22) for the positioning and fastening of said shells (3, 4).
The design of the base (2) may include one or more seats (24) for mounting one or more wheels (23) intended to move the casing (1).
Said front shell (3), shown in Figure 4, is preferably shaped so as to define the front wall (31) and the side walls (33) of the casing (1). Said front shell (3) comprises, on said front wall (31), at least one opening (32) intended to allow access to the vending machine.
In the preferred embodiment of the invention, said front shell (3) also comprises a filling panel (34), shown in Figure 5, suited to be mounted on said opening (32) of the front shell (3).
Said filling panel (34) is preferably constrained in a removable way to said front shell (3) by means of hooks or protrusions (37) suited to be inserted in corresponding holes, slots (38) or seats (39) obtained in corresponding positions on said front shell (3).
According to the invention, said filling panel (34) may, for example, be openable so as to allow access to the inside of the casing (1) by rotation or flipping.
Said filling panel (34) in turn can be preferably provided with at least one opening (35) to which a removable closing panel (7) suited to cover said opening (35) of the filling panel (34) can be hooked or constrained.
Said closing panel (7), shown in Figure 6, preferably has a shape corresponding to said opening (35) of the filling panel (34) and is hinged, for example, to the lower edge (351) of the opening (35) itself.
Said panel (7) can thus be rotated from a closed position, in which it is constrained, for example, to the upper edge (352) of the opening (35), to an open position in which it is tilted towards the outside of the casing (1) so as to allow access to the inside of the casing.
In said closed position, said filling panel (7) is constrained to the upper edge (352) of the opening (35) through bolts or safety locks, so as to allow opening only by authorized personnel, for example by means of a key.
In said open position, said panel (7) is tilted towards the outside, where it can, for example, be locked at a certain angle with respect to the filling panel (34) by means of chains or straps attached to the sides of the closing panel (7) and to the filling panel (34).
Said panel (7) is suited to serve as a support for the vending machine, that is, the mechanical and electromechanical devices and components necessary for the operation of the vending machine as well as the containers for the items or objects to be dispensed are constrained to said panel (7).
According to the invention, said filling panel (34) or said front wall (31) of the front shell (3) may also comprise one or more additional openings (36) communicating with the containers for the objects or items to be dispensed and suited to allow the user to access the delivery ports of the vending machine.
To restock the vending machine and/or to collect the tokens, coins, or banknotes inserted therein, the operator must disengage said panel (7) from said filling panel (34) and rotate it towards the outside of the casing in order to allow direct access to the mechanical or electromechanical components, the coin box, and the containers for the items to be dispensed.
According to the invention, said casing (1) may also be suited to contain one or more batteries intended to power said mechanical or electromechanical components of the vending machine as well as light or sound devices that may be present on the casing (1) or the vending machine.
Said base (2), said front shell (3), said rear shell (4) and said cover (5) comprise coupling devices for assembly. Screws or other fixing means intended to constrain the parts forming the casing (1) to one another may also be used.
For example, as shown in Figure 7, said rear shell (4) comprises protrusions or hooks (41) suited to be inserted and fixed in special seats obtained in corresponding positions on said front shell (3). Said base (3), said front shell (3), said rear shell (4), and said cover (5) are specially shaped so that they can be coupled, for example, with other similar casings, so as to obtain two or more vending machines joined and combined in different ways.
According to the invention, at least said front shell (3), said filling panel (34) and/or said cover (5) may comprise one or more holes for lighting bodies, sound amplifiers or other similar devices.
Said base (2) and/or said front shell (3) and said rear shell (4) may comprise seats or compartments for devices such as one or more batteries or electrical devices for the operation of the vending machine or for the independent operation of the vending machine without the need for connection to an external power supply, which thus makes the casing (1) suited to be transported and installed anywhere.
