Abstract

The invention relates to the electric power industry, and more particularly to the design of conductors for overhead transmission lines and electrical power networks and to methods for the manufacture thereof. An overhead transmission line conductor comprises a stranded conducting core consisting of wires, wherein at least three of the wires of the stranded conducting core are provided with a load-bearing element disposed inside each of the wires and configured in the form of a long-length rod made from a continuously reinforced composite material having a thermosetting polymer matrix or a metal matrix. The invention makes it possible to manufacture conductors for overhead transmission lines having increased mechanical strength, a low thermal expansion coefficient and reduced weight, which are reliable and highly resistant, under operating conditions, to the impact of active environmental factors. The result is a long operating life. The transmission capacity of overhead lines is increased.
