Abstract

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zum Orten eines Fahrzeugs (110) entlang einer Fahrstrecke (100), entlang derer ein Wellenleiter (50) verlegt ist, wobei bei dem Verfahren zeitlich nacheinander elektromagnetische Pulse (Pin) in den Wellenleiter (50) eingespeist werden und für jeden ausgesandten Puls jeweils zumindest ein durch fahrzeuginduzierte Rückstreuung des elektromagnetischen Pulses erzeugtes Rückstreumuster (Rm1, Rm2, Rm3) empfangen und ausgewertet wird. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass der Wellenleiter (50) entlang der Fahrstrecke (100) zumindest einen Verlängerungsabschnitt (51-55) aufweist, in dem die Länge des Wellenleiters (50) länger ist als der diesem Verlängerungsabschnitt (51-55) zugeordnete Abschnitt der Fahrstrecke (100), die zeitliche Länge (dt1-dt3) der empfangenen Rückstreumuster (Rm1, Rm2, Rm3) ausgewertet wird und ein Ortsignal (So) erzeugt wird, wenn sich die Länge (dt1-dt3) der empfangenen Rückstreumuster (Rm1, Rm2, Rm3) im zeitlichen Verlauf verlängert.
