従来では、表示用透光窓をフロント側ケースから突出させたり、反対に凹ませるような意匠として対応する場合が多かった。
実施の形態1.
図1は、液晶表示部を備えた電子機器を示す斜視図である。図1に示す電子機器1は、液晶表示部を備えたスマートフォンやPND(Portable Navigation Device)などの携帯用の電子機器である。電子機器1の意匠パネル部3には、保護板付きの液晶表示パネル2が表示面側に組み付けられ、裏面側ケース部4が裏面側に組み付けられる。
なお、導光板7や各種の光学シート、光源などを含む照明光源部(導光板7以外は不図示)は、バックライト保持用フレーム6とバックライト保持用ケース8’とからなる保持筐体に収納される。
これは、保護基板付き液晶表示パネル2の外周部が、両面粘着テープ5によりバックライト保持用フレーム6のフランジ部6aに取り付けられていることから、弾性クッション10を設けずに、保護板2aの外周部を意匠パネル部3’の開口段差部に接着した場合、保護基板付き液晶表示パネル2が、異なる部材であるバックライト保持用フレーム6と意匠パネル部3’とに重複固定されて平面歪み応力が発生する。この平面歪み応力によって保護基板付き液晶表示パネル2が歪むと、表示ムラの原因となる。
このため、従来では、意匠パネル部3’の開口段差部と保護板2aの外周部との間に、塵埃、水分などの浸入や液晶内部からの露光を回避するため、弾性クッション10を設けている。
このように、表示面側の外形意匠を構成する意匠パネルと、導光板7などの内部部品を覆う保持筐体とを一体化した意匠用フレーム3を採用することにより、双方の構成部材による機能を得ることができ、かつ部品点数の削減が可能である。
保護板付き液晶モジュール12においては、保護板2aの外周部が両面粘着テープ5によって意匠用フレーム3の意匠パネル部3bに取り付けられるだけであり、構造が簡素化されている。例えば、従来のように、保護板付き液晶モジュール9を意匠パネル部3’に組み付けるためのねじ止め構造を省略することができる。
従って、実施の形態1に係る電子機器1は、厚み寸法公差を考慮すべき部材が削減されるため、電子機器1の厚みBは、従来の電子機器1’の厚みAよりも薄型に構成することが可能である。
このように構成することで、部品点数を削減して薄型化を図ることができる。

表示面上に保護板が取り付けられ、前記保護板の外周部が前記意匠パネル部に固定されて、前記導光体により導光された光源からの光で背面側が照明される液晶表示パネルと、
前記液晶表示パネルが固定された前記意匠用フレームに前記意匠パネル部を介して組み付けられる裏面側の筐体本体とを備える電子機器。
