Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de spectrométrie de masse en tandem. Un flux quasi continu d'ions provenant d'une source d'ion (20) et comprenant une gamme relativement large d'ions de ratio de masse sur charge est segmenté de manière temporelle en une pluralité de segments. Chaque segment est soumis à un degré de fragmentation indépendamment sélectionné, de telle sorte que, par exemple, certains segments de la gamme de masse large sont fragmentés alors que d'autres ne le sont pas. La population d'ions résultante, contenant à la fois des ions précurseurs et des ions fragmentés, est analysée dans un cycle d'acquisition unique à l'aide d'un analyseur de masse à haute résolution (150). La technique permet à l'analyse de la population d'ions initiale d'être optimisée pour des limitations analytiques.
