Abstract

Disclosed is a seawater desalination system implementing reverse osmosis. The seawater desalination system comprises: one or more pumps for pressurizing seawater to provide pressurized seawater; one or more reverse-osmosis membranes for discharging fresh water and concentrate water from the pressurized seawater; one or more pressure-regulating devices installed in a pipe for discharging the concentrate water; and a control device. The control device determines an operational ratio based on information relating to the price of energy, and controls one or more pumps according to the determined operational ratio. The control device controls said one or more pressure-regulating devices to regulate the pressure being applied to said one or more reverse-osmosis membranes.
