Definitions
- teleconferencing In contrast to conventional conferences, in which the participants are located in a room and also have the opportunity, depending on affiliation to a group of participants, to position themselves spatially in the conference room so that a vote, especially on non-verbal communication, even during the conference is possible, teleconferencing generally does not provide adequate ability to vote participants during the teleconference within a group of participants.
- the invention is therefore based on the object to provide a teaching for technical action that can contribute to solving the problems associated with this situation.
- This object is achieved by a method for carrying out a teleconference or by a device for carrying out such a method according to one of the independent claims.
- the subclaims are intended to provide advantageous developments of the invention under protection.
- a method for carrying out a teleconference in which a teleconference circuit is established between subscribers of the teleconference, and in which at least one protected communication connection is established at least temporarily for at least one subgroup of all subscribers. At least a part of the subscribers of this subgroup can exchange information via this protected communication connection. This information is made available to those participants in the teleconference who do not belong to at least one subgroup, at least temporarily not accessible via this at least one protected communication connection.
- a teleconferencing circuit and also a telephone conference circuit should be understood to mean an interconnection of telecommunication connections between the participants of a teleconference exchanging voice and possibly video or video signals between the participants in such a way that all the participants hear one or more speaking participants and ever according to the settings of the conference system, also can see.
- conference call emphasizes the linguistic importance of the language as opposed to pictures or other data, and we thus the fact that a teleconference without video signals, alone with voice calls, ie a telephone conference, between the participants even in the age of video telephony, more conceivable is as a call without speech signals, which is carried out solely via video signals or other signals.
- conference call is thus used, on the one hand, for the special case of a teleconference which exclusively uses voice signals and, on the other hand, for a subsystem of a teleconference which also uses voice signals but also other signals, such as video signals.
- Telko English audio conference
- Examples of such service features include the Einberu ⁇ fen additional participants (English add-on Conference), the independent subscribers dial (English Dial-in Conference), the convening of conference participants using a list (English Preset Conference), the introduction of announcements, the assignment of moderator functions and the authorization to transfer such to other participants, the possibility of side conferences and the simultaneous switching through several speakers (English n-loudest), for example, only the n loudest speaker are switched through.
- the protected communication links of subgroups may preferably be realized as side conferences in which a corresponding access control ensured that only members have a subgroup access to the protected communication link.
- a conference call can connect between three and ten or more participants. Some providers even provide virtual conference rooms for several hundred participants. Conference rooms are usually provided for security reasons with an access PIN, which will be communicated to invited participants.
- Moderator functions for example, allow them to be switched to loud or explicitly to give them the floor. Also known is the application sharing, so the ability to share with the other participants his screen and its applications during the conference and thus to be able to present, for example, presentations.
- a conference circuit should preferably be understood to mean a separate technical functional unit in exchanges or external servers (eg media servers), which allows several subscribers to a conference interconnect.
- external servers eg media servers
- Such conferencing provides additional service features needed for a large conference call beyond a simple three-party conference.
- conference call is often equated with the term telephone conference. However, it is only with the technical unit conferencing that you have the opportunity to actually conduct a conference call. In previous analog telephone network, a conference call could be manually reserved and set up, or a telephone system with a corresponding number of connection lines was required at the initiating subscriber. In IP-based telecommunications networks, conferencing is provided by external media servers. Such conference calls can accommodate 200 and more subscribers and a large bundle of service features.
- conference line in telecommunications means an active or inactive voice channel in a telephone conference at the end of which a subscriber or another telephone conference is connected. If several telephone conferences are cascaded in this way also speaks of daisy chain Conference. However, this possibility does not exist for signaling reasons usually for a conference call and is usually possible only for tripartite conferences, for example, analog subscribers.
- a protected communication connection is understood to mean a communication connection between the subscribers of a subgroup of all subscribers of the teleconference which the subscribers of this subgroup can exchange information with each other without that information on the protected communication link being made available to the subscribers who do not belong to that subgroup.
- a protected communication connection can be executed as a further, parallel to the actual teleconferencing circuit and independent of this second teleconferencing.
- a parallel and independent further teleconferencing circuit to which only subscribers of a subgroup are involved, is set up in parallel to the actual teleconferencing circuit, in which all subscribers of the teleconference participate.
- the terms subgroup and interest group are used synonymously in this context.
- the interest group refers to a group of participants with the same interests, at least with regard to one topic. Participants of an interest group will therefore preferably join together to form a subgroup within the meaning of the present invention.
- the participants of the teleconference use in connection with all established teleconferencing circuits, the same telecommunication terminals, which are preferably equipped with facilities that allow the participants between the individual teleconferencing switch back and forth.
- a subscriber to a subset his microphone depending on which teleconferencing he wants to be transmitted at a given time, between the available teleconferencing circuits, depending on his affiliation to different subgroups, toggle.
- a subscriber wishes to be heard by all subscribers of the teleconference, he switches his microphone to the teleconference's main teleconference circuit, which transmits his voice signal to all subscribers of the teleconference, as far as he is registered in the teleconference circuit as an active speaker.
- this subscriber wishes to be heard only by the subscribers of his subgroup, he switches his microphone to the further teleconference circuit belonging to this subgroup, to which the subscribers of the subgroup, but not the subscribers outside the subgroup, have access.
- About this belonging to the subset teleconferencing therefore takes place a protected communication in the sense that the information exchanged via this communication link information only the participants of the subgroup are accessible. In this sense one can speak of a protected communication connection.
- the information exchanged over the at least one protected communication link comprises special information obtained by data processing techniques from image data taken by at least one subscriber of the subgroup during the teleconference.
- image data are video data or individual images taken with a camera, which are preferably compressed or otherwise be further processed with data processing methods to make the results of this processing accessible to the participants of the subgroup.
- the data processing methods that can be used in this case include, in particular, methods for data reduction, preferably data compression methods or methods for undersampling digital images, in which the number of pixels is reduced.
- Further possibilities for data processing processing of the image data are the feature extraction, wherein here different methods can be used with which a distinction can be made between individual facial expressions, such as the facial expression of consent or facial expression of rejection or the facial expression of indifference.
- Data processing techniques of gestures or facial expressions are preferably used for this purpose, with the aid of which symbolic information can be derived from image data or from video data, with the aid of which the participants within a subgroup can vote on specific topics or questions.
- From the area of facial expressions recognition different methods of classifying facial expressions known to the person skilled in the art can be used, with which symbolic information can be obtained from image or video data of the faces of the participants, expressing the internal position of these participants on specific topics or questions reflect.
- gesture recognition or “gesture recognition” is intended in this context to mean the automatic recognition of gestures carried out by humans with the aid of an information technology system, preferably a computer.
- Computer science has provided a number of algorithms and mathematical methods for recognizing gestures and the use of gestures for human-computer interaction and is constantly developing the procedures. Every posture and body movement can represent a gesture in principle. The greatest importance is the recognition of hand and head gestures.
- camera-based gesture recognition and mimic recognition systems are employed.
- the cameras are used to create pictures of a participant in a teleconference. Both systems with a camera and with multiple cameras are preferably used.
- Camera-based techniques rely on image analysis techniques to detect the posture or facial expressions of a participant in a teleconference.
- Preferred tools for image analysis are the so-called optical flow for motion extraction, the Sobel operator, so-called wavelets such as the Gabor wavelets, the so-called Gauss-Laplace pyramid, the color classifiers, for example for skin color classification, the Hough transformation and the Contrast analysis for detection of geometric objects.
- wavelets such as the Gabor wavelets, the so-called Gauss-Laplace pyramid
- color classifiers for example for skin color classification
- the Hough transformation the Contrast analysis for detection of geometric objects.
- models for example a so-called rigid 2D or 3D model or so-called statistical models such as the Active Shape Model or Point Distribution Model.
- the Sobel operator is a simple edge detection filter that is widely used in image processing where it is used as an algorithm using convolution (Sobel algorithm). This calculates the first derivative of the pixel brightness values, while simultaneously smoothing orthogonally to the direction of derivation.
- the algorithm uses convolution using a 3x3 matrix (convolution matrix) that generates a gradient image from the original image. These are used to display high frequencies in the picture with gray values. The areas of greatest intensity are where the brightness of the original image changes the most and thus represents the largest edges. Therefore, a threshold function is usually applied after folding with the Sobeloperator. However, the algorithm can also be applied to other 2-dimensional information.
- avelet denotes the functions underlying a continuous or discrete avelet transformation.
- wavelet was coined in the 1980s in geophysics (Jean Morlet, Alex Grossmann) for functions that generalize the short-time Fourier transform, but has been used since the late 1980s only in the usual meaning today.
- the compact, continuous (to any order of differentiability) and orthogonal wavelets were discovered by Ingrid Daubechies (1988) and the algorithm of fast wavelet Transformation (FWT) using multi-scale analysis (MRA) developed by Stephane Mallat and Yves Meyer (1989).
- MRA multi-scale analysis
- the Gauss or Laplace pyramids also called Burt-Adelson pyramids or Gauss and Laplace pyramids, are algorithms of digital signal processing.
- Fuzziness and sharpness are characteristics of digital images to recognize certain structures or to deliberately manipulate images.
- the individual frequency bands of an image represent the sharpness and blur of an image.
- filter cores or the Fourier transformations can be used.
- the sensor information flows into algorithms that analyze the raw data and recognize gestures. It uses algorithms for pattern recognition. To remove noise in the input data and to reduce data, the sensor data is often pre-processed in the first step. Subsequently, features are extracted from the input data. These features serve as input to the classification. Hidden Markov Models, Artificial Neural Networks and other techniques are often used for this purpose Origin mostly used in research on artificial intelligence.

- the protected communication devices are then protected only at the times for the subset in which they are made available to non-subscribers outside the subset.
- a protected communication link is configured to be implemented by at least one communication channel, which may comprise a voice channel and a video channel and possibly other data channels, within a teleconference circuit comprising a plurality of communication channels.
- the teleconferencing circuit consists, at least temporarily, of a plurality of protected communication connections which are at least partially and at least temporarily also made available to subscribers outside the subgroup, in particular also at times to all subscribers of the teleconference.
- the protected communication link for the sub-group to which he belongs all partici ⁇ numbers of the conference will be made available for this time and on the other hand, when that participant turns only to the participants of its subgroup, this protected communication connection are made available only to the participants of the subgroup.
