Abstract

The invention relates to a synchronous motor (1) comprising a stator (3) with coils (4), a rotor (5) which comprises at least one permanent magnet (7) and which rotates about a rotational axis (6), a control unit (8) for applying a current to the coils (4) such that a drive magnetic field can be generated in accordance with the position of the rotor (5) in order to apply torque to the rotor (5), a position detector unit (9) for applying a measuring signal to the coils (4) such that the position of the rotor (5) can be determined with the aid of the resulting measuring current in the coils (4), said rotor (5) having axes (11) which are perpendicular to the rotational axis (6) and which have different inductances. Said rotor (5) has different magnetic and/or electric properties on the axes (11).
