Abstract

A magnetic field gradient coil assembly (100) for a magnetic resonance imaging system (300), wherein the magnetic field gradient coil assembly comprises: a carrier (102) with an inner surface (106) and an outer surface (104), wherein the inner surface forms a subject volume (108) adapted for receiving a subject (306); - a shield coil (112) attached to the outer surface; a gradient coil (114) attached to the inner surface; and a shim channel (116) through the carrier for receiving a shim rail (302, 400, 500) within the carrier and located between the shield coil and the gradient coil, wherein the shim channel comprises a radio frequency shield (118) adapted for shielding radio frequency emissions originating from the shim channel.
