OVEN WITH BURNER HOUSING
[0001] The present invention relates to an oven wherein easy access to the
burner is provided for cleaning or maintenance purposes.
[0002] In the gas oven, the cooking process is performed by means of the burner mounted in the oven cavity. The oven burner intended for cooking from below is mounted into a burner housing situated at the lower portion of the casing surrounding the oven cavity for heating the trays placed into the oven cavity from below. A flame barrier is disposed generally at the upper portion of the burner providing the flames to be directed. The flame barrier provides the heat radiated from the flames to rise from the sides to be distributed into the oven cavity, prevents the middle portion of the foods cooked in the trays from burning, however when the burner is desired to be accessed through the oven cavity for cleaning, maintenance or adjustment purposes, the flame barrier obstructs access to the burner and the burner needs to be dismounted together with the flame barrier, thereby losses in labor and time are encountered.
[0003] In the state of the art United States Patent No. US6830045, a gas burner module in a cooking appliance is explained which is disposed at the lower portion of the oven cavity whereon the burner is mounted.
[0004] In the gas oven explained in the state of the art European Patent No
EP0860658, an aperture is disposed at the front side and the bottom side of the oven muffle which provides access to the burner when the oven door is opened.
[0005] The aim of the present invention is the realization of an oven wherein easy access to the burner that is disposed in a burner housing is provided for cleaning or maintenance purposes.
[0006] The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, and explicated in the claims, comprises a burner housing shaped as an open-top box, adjacent to the bottom portion of the casing surrounding the oven cavity, safeguarding the burner that provides the cooking process to be performed by forming flames with the gas fuel and having a base forming the lower side of the burner housing having an opening,
configured by partially cutting out the planar region of the base, large enough for the burner to pass through the said opening, and a support plate detachably mounted on the base such as to cover the opening, whereon the burner is mounted and which can be detached from the base with the burner thereon when an operation such as cleaning, repairing, maintenance, adjustment or the like is required to be made.
[0007] In the oven of the present invention, since the burner remains below the flame barrier shaped as a horizontal plate and mounted at its upper portion in the oven cavity, the support plate is dismounted from the base for reaching the burner and is taken outside from the opening by being detached from the base together with the burner thereon.
[0008] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the support plate is produced from the planar part that is cut out and separated from the base for forming the opening. Afterwards, the support plate is mounted again to the base from which it is separated by being cut out.
[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the support plate is of
rectangular shape and eccentrically aligned fastening claws are disposed on the opposite sides of the support plate.
[0010] The fastening claws provide the support plate, after detached from the base by being cut out, to be again fixed to the base by being rotated 180 degrees around the horizontal axis which is parallel to its long or short side.
[001 1] In this embodiment, the opening is also rectangular shaped like the
support plate and eccentrically aligned recesses from which the fastening claws are cut out are arranged on the opposite sides of the opening.
[0012] In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven comprises a drawer disposed on the lower side of the burner housing and when opened outwards provides access to the support plate on the base of the burner housing from below.
[0013] In the oven of the present invention, when the burner needs to be
accessed for cleaning, maintenance, adjustment or any other purpose, the burner can be reached easily by means of the support plate that is detachably mounted to the base of the burner housing and convenience of
maintenance is provided. Furthermore, material costs are decreased since the support plate is produced from the section cut out from the base of the burner housing.
The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

Oven (1 ) comprises an oven cavity (2) wherein the cooking process is
performed, a casing (3) surrounding the oven cavity (2), a burner (4) disposed at the lower portion of the oven cavity (2), providing flames to be formed with the gas fuel inside the oven cavity (2) and the cooking process to be performed, a flame barrier (5) secured on the upper portion of the burner (4), blocking the flames rising from the burner (4) thereby providing the heat radiated from the flames to disseminate into the oven cavity (2) from the sides and preventing the middle portion of the foods cooking in the tray from being burned, a burner housing (7) adjacent to the lower part of the casing (3), shaped as an open-top box, safeguarding the burner (4) and a base (6) at the bottom side of the burner housing (7).
[0038] The oven (1 ) of the present invention comprises an opening (8) formed by partially cutting out the planar section of the base (6) and the said opening (8) is large enough for the burner (4) to pass through it. The oven (1 ) further comprises a support plate (9) detachably mounted to the base (6) such as to cover the opening (8), supporting the burner (4) and which can be detached from the base (6) together with the burner (4) thereon by being dislodged from the base (6) when a process like cleaning, repairing, adjustment or the like needs to be performed.
[0039] Since the burner (4) remains below the flame barrier (5) in the oven cavity (2), the support plate (9) is detached from the base (6) for accessing the burner (4) and is taken outside from the opening (8) by being dislodged from the base (6) together with the burner (4) thereon. The burner (4), taken outside together with the support plate (9) from under the burner housing (7) by passing through the opening (8), can be easily accessed and the necessary intervention can be made by the service personnel.
[0040] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the support plate (9) is produced from the planar part cut out and detached from the base (6) for forming the opening (8) and afterwards is mounted to the base (6) again from which it is detached by being cut out. The planar part cut out from the base (6) is reused and it is not required to use any additional material for producing the support plate (9).
[0041] The support plate (9) produced by being detached from the base (6) is again mounted to the base (6) by detachable fastening elements, for
example by screwing, the burner (4) is secured thereon and afterwards, if required, it can be detached by being dislodged from the base (6) together with the burner (4) thereon.
[0042] In an embodiment of the present invention, the support plate (9) is in
rectangular form and the oven (1) comprises more than one fastening claws (10) that extend outwards from the opposite sides of the support plate (9) and eccentrically aligned, providing the support plate (9) to be secured to the base (6) again by being rotated 180 degrees around the horizontal axis (E) parallel to its long side or short side after being detached by being cut out from the base (6).
[0043] In this embodiment, the opening (8) is also in rectangular form like the support plate (9) and the oven (1) comprises more than one eccentrically aligned recess (1 1 ), disposed on the opposite sides of the opening (8) and formed by cutting out the sides of the opening (8) in the shape of fastening claws (10) for forming the fastening claws (10).
[0044] In this embodiment, while the burner housing (7) is produced, in the
process of detaching the planar base section forming the support plate (9) by being cut out, the shapes of the support plate (9) and also the fastening claws (10) adjacent to the support plate (9) are configured together in the cutting line. At the end of cutting out the base (6) process, the support plate (9) is taken out from the base (6) together with the fastening claws
(10) on its sides. When cutting out the base (6) is completed, the recesses
(1 1 ) are configured on the sides of the opening (8) that is formed at the base (6) from which the fastening claws (10) are detached by cutting out. When the support plate (9) detached from the base (6) is covered over the opening (8) by being rotated 180 degrees around the horizontal axis (E), the fastening claws (10) do not correspond with the recesses (1 1 ) since the fastening claws (10) on the opposite sides and hence the recesses (1 1 ) from which the fastening claws (10) are cut out are not aligned and the support plate (9) is mounted to the burner housing (7) by being screwed to the base (6) from the fastening claws (10) or by some other fastening method.
[0045] In an embodiment of the present invention, the oven (1) comprises a
drawer (12) disposed at the lower part of the burner housing (7) and which is used for the purpose of storing or for keeping the cooked foodstuffs warm, the support plate (9) at the base (6) of the burner housing (7) can be reached from below by opening the drawer (12) outwards and the support plate (9) is lowered to the area of the drawer (12) by being dismounted from the base (6) with the burner (4) thereon. The flame barrier (5) prevents access to the burner (4) inside the oven cavity (2) since it is situated at the upper portion of the burner (4), however, by means of the embodiment of the present invention, the burner (4) can be reached easily by opening the drawer (12) and the flame barrier (5) does not form an obstruction since it remains above the burner (4).
[0046] In the oven (1 ) of the present invention, when the burner (4) needs to be accessed for cleaning, maintenance, adjustment or any other purpose, the burner (4) can be reached easily by means of the support plate (9) that is detachably mounted to the base (6) of the burner housing (7).
Furthermore, material costs are decreased since the support plate (9) is produced from the section detached by being cut out from the base (6) of the burner housing (7).
[0047] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited by the
embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection explained by the claims of the present invention.
