Description

HOSPITAL BED WITH SLIDING BACK ARRANGEMENT
FILED OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the hospital bed. More particularly it relates to a hospital bed having adjustable back arrangement.
PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
A hospital bed is a specialized bed which has been designed to meet the needs of the hospital environment. The most distinctive feature of a hospital bed is that it is fully adjustable. Hospital beds typically can be adjusted in a wide range of ways to support a patient's back, make it easier to perform procedures, and for various other purposes. A basic hospital bed may be split into two sections which can be raised in various ways, and more sophisticated beds have additional sections for the purpose of making very precise adjustments to meet the specific needs of a patient.
There are various patents available on the hospital beds. Some of them are discussed hereinafter. UK patent GB728765 discloses a back rest for beds comprising a frame having horizontal tubes connected by vertical tubes the outer of which telescope on rods hinged to the head end of the bed, is locked in adjusted position by hand- actuated means, lodged within tube. In one arrangement, a locking bar contained in tube is partially turned by handle which causes matched grooving on the ends of bar to become asymmetric to rods to give a frictional binding between bar and rods. Unlocking is by reversal of handle. Another arrangement is to have bar in two parts a separated by a compression spring, for pressing their ends against rods. Retraction of elements is by bringing the triggers together. In place of spring, a cam or a coned screw engaging a divided nut may be used. Friction pads, e.g. of hard rubber, may be used at the ends of elements, or the nose end of each element engages recesses or holes along rod. Japanese patent JP2001061599 discloses a chair is formed comprising a frame, a seat cushion and a back cushion which can be freely assembled to one another. For the seat part of the frame, an inner pipe is slidable relative to an outer pipe to allow adjustment of the depth of the seat part. The inner pipe is pushed in to reduce the depth to allow the use of a chair. With the inner pipe drawn out to increase the depth, two chairs are arranged in the direction of depth to provide a bed or sofa.
Canadian patent CA1308866 discloses Hospital Bed Convertible to Chair a bed that is convertible to a chair. The bed has a retracting frame mounted on a fixed frame. A patient support is formed by serially-connected head, seat, thigh, calf and foot panels, with the seat panel being fixed to the retracting frame. Movement of the retracting frame toward the foot end of the bed causes the head panel to rise and the leg panel to drop, thereby creating a chair.
US patent application US2005144724 discloses the universal hospital bed designed for nursing the immobile patients with additional bathing equipment" belongs to the category of the health equipment, intended for the health institutions, gerontology institutions and family households. The essence of the invention is in its constructive solution of the three-part bed, which using the mechanism for electrical and mechanical adjustment of the angles of the slope of the mobile parts of bed, could be converted into the form of (arm) chair. The belt holders and belts for fastening the patients are installed on the back part of the bed, and the antidecubitus mattress is placed along the whole bed, used as preventive protection of the patients against decubitus, or if patient already has it, for healing of the wounds. On the middle sitting part of the bed-mattress, part of the mattress is cut and the basic insert is made of it, which if necessary, could be replaced with WC insert. Additional special equipment for bathing the immobile patients solves the problem of bathing the patients on the bed itself.
Another US patent 4862529 discloses a bed that is convertible to a chair.
It is a common fact that all the patients on fowler (back straitening) bed slide down with the operation of the backrest. They have to be pulled up every day and that is strenuous for nurse or family members and painful for the patient. This forward sliding of the patient happens because when back is strained the patient is pushed forward and as there is no sliding movement between the patient and the back frame.
In available hospital bed there is no arrangement to this pushing. The patient is pushed forward and so slides forwards his feet. As a result he has to be pulled up when the back of the bed goes into bed position as it does not pull the patient up but goes down to bed position so the patient remains in the pushed forward position. In available hospital bed nothing is provided to solve this problem.
Hence there is a need to provide a hospital bed which will take care of above mentioned problems.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION :
It is an object of the invention to provide a hospital bed which overcomes the problems associated with the hospital beds available in prior art.
It is another object of the invention to provide a hospital bed which stops pushing the patient in forward and thereby save the energy of nurse and make their life easy.
Another object of the invention to provide a hospital bed which provides comfort to the patient and patient need not have to go through the painful procedure. Yet another object of the invention to provide a hospital bed which have simplified structure.
Yet another object of the invention to provide a hospital bed which can be produced in inexpensive manner.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION :
Accordingly to achieve the aforesaid objects present invention provides a hospital bed with sliding back arrangement comprising :
