Abstract
The present invention relates to kitchen scale (50) that may be coupled with a kitchen countertop appliance (10) and in particular, to such a scale wherein the scale is functionally independent of the countertop appliance. The kitchen scale is adept for coupling or decoupling with a kitchen countertop appliance providing for weighing and/or measuring ingredients while using the countertop appliance while maintaining functional independence of one another.
Description
MULTIPURPOSE KITCHEN SCALE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to kitchen scale that may be coupled with a kitchen countertop appliance and in particular, to such a scale wherein the scale is functionally independent of the countertop appliance.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The need for a combined scale with kitchen appliances has been realized for some time in particular to aid in weighing, measuring ingredients during the food preparation process. For example during baking exact and relative rationed amounts of ingredients are needed to ensure the success and quality of the baking process.
In response to such a need various combination kitchen products have been developed. Combination kitchen scale and food processor or the like kitchen appliance have been developed in different forms for quite some time as some of the functions of the applicant such a food processor require measurements while in the process of preparing the foodstuffs. For example while baking a cake one would like to know the measurement and volume of the different ingredients as they are being added and/or measured during the preparation process.
One approach to provide such a combined product has been to mechanically integrate a scale with the motor of a food processor or mixer such that while a mixing bowl is operational a user is able to measure the added ingredients. For example as depicted in European Patent Application No. EPl 880647 to Kenwood Ltd. However such products are limited in that they are functionally correlated with one anther.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention overcomes the deficiencies of the background by providing a kitchen scale that may be associated with countertop kitchen appliances to facilitating the preparation of foodstuffs by weighing and measuring ingredients as they are used however maintaining functional independence of one another and allowing the scale to function independently of the kitchen appliance both while coupled or decoupled.
Within the context of this application the term kitchen countertop applicance may interchangeably refer to any appliance used on a kitchen countertop or as an accessory to such an appliance for example including but not limited to mixer, food processor, juicer, blender, dehydrator, percolator, pasta maker, coffee machine, electric kettle, spice grinder, coffee grinder, dicer, food chopper, slow cooker, fryer, steamer, ice cream maker, bread maker and deli slicer.
Within the context of this application the term scale, load sensor refers to a device comprising mechanics, electronics, hardware, software or the like adept for measuring and or weighing an object. Optionally measuring and weighing capabilities may be provided by a plurality of optional sensors and/or transducer technologies and/or methodologies for example including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, software, spring based, elastic, optical, acoustic, pressure, temperature based or the like technology for weighing and/or measuring.
