Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for filtering contaminants in an aquarium tank, featuring improved filtration as contaminants are not stuck in a filter plate but are kept separately and facilitating the filtering and washing processes by floating heavy contaminants and then storing them in a storage unit. The apparatus for filtering contaminants in an aquarium tank of the present invention comprises: a housing which is open at the upper end, and has an inlet port at the lower end for receiving water inflow and a storage unit inside for the accumulation of contaminants; a suction device mounted to the upper end of the housing for moving water upwardly; a filter plate mounted within the housing and disposed under the suction device for letting water pass therethrough when the water moves upwardly, while for blocking contaminants; and a circulation device, which is disposed between the filter and the inlet port and rotates by water during the upward movement of the water, thereby floating contaminants in the low areas upward, wherein the contaminants being pushed upward by the circulation device collide with the filter plate and are blocked and then accumulated in the storage unit.
