Abstract
The present invention provides a process for carbon dioxide sequestration, comprising the subsequent steps: (a) providing magnesium-comprising silicate hydroxide mineral particles; (b) activating the magnesium-comprising silicate hydroxide mineral particles at elevated temperature to obtain at least activated mineral particles, (c) reducing the average particle size of the activated mineral particles and at the same time contacting the activated mineral with an aqueous medium and carbon dioxide under low temperature conditions to obtain an aqueous bicarbonate solution and small activated mineral particles, and (d) contacting the aqueous bicarbonate solution and small activated mineral particles with carbon dioxide at elevated temperatures.
