Abstract

With respect to a reliable operation of a modem on a multi-phase power supply network and as cost-effective a design of the modem as possible, the modem for transmitting data over a power supply network, wherein the power supply network has at least two phases (L1, L2, L3) and a neutral conductor, and wherein the modem (1) has a power supply unit (2) for supplying the modem (1) with power and a signal processing unit (3), is characterized in that the power supply unit (2) has a single-phase design and that the signal processing unit (3) is coupled to at least two of the phases (L1, L2, L3) for transmitting and receiving data.
