Abstract

L'invention concerne des inserts améliorés destinés à être utilisés dans des mandrins à poches latérales et comprenant un ou plusieurs éléments annulaires d'étanchéité formés d'un matériau élastomère qui gonfle en réaction à la chaleur ou à la saturation par un fluide. Lorsque l'insert est mis en place à l'intérieur d'un mandrin à poches latérales, l'élastomère capable de gonfler peut alors être dilaté en appliquant soit de la chaleur, soit une saturation par un fluide, pour provoquer le gonflement du ou des éléments d'étanchéité, assurant ainsi une étanchéité contre l'alésage à joint du mandrin à poches latérales.
