Abstract

 二次電池に接続するための電池接続端子と、前記二次電池の充電用の電流を出力する電源部から、前記電流を受電するための電源接続端子と、前記電源接続端子と前記電池接続端子との間に直列に接続され、前記電源接続端子から前記電池接続端子へ流れる電流をオン、オフする第1及び第2のスイッチング素子と、前記電源接続端子から前記電池接続端子へ流れる電流を検出する電流検出部と、前記第1及び第2のスイッチング素子をオンさせる工程と、前記第1のスイッチング素子をオンさせると共に前記第2のスイッチング素子をオフさせる工程と、前記第1のスイッチング素子をオフさせると共に前記第2のスイッチング素子をオンさせる工程とを繰り返すことにより、前記電池接続端子へパルス状に充電電流を供給する充電制御部と、前記充電制御部によって前記第1及び第2のスイッチング素子のうちいずれか一方のみがオンされている期間に、前記電流検出部によって検出される電流が、前記電池接続端子へ流れる電流の有無を判定するべく設定された電流閾値を超える場合、前記第1及び第2のスイッチング素子のうち少なくとも一方に故障が生じていると判定する故障判定部とを備えた充電回路である。
