Abstract
The present invention relates to a new technique in security Numbering with the help of specific styles of engraved numbering wheels which have been designed to protect security documents involving currencies, cheques and other Bank Notes. This unique concept is based on numbering with two numbering wheels having partial images of the same numerals in two separate boxes which when printed in register will make each of the numerals appear in two colours (one numeral split into two parts each in one colour) to achieve the intended result.
Description
Numbering wheels for security printing
The present invention relates to a new technique in numbering, with the help of specific styles of engraved numbering wheels which have been designed to protect security documents involving currencies, cheques, and other bank notes from being counterfeited. This system is based on the art of highly advanced engraving and numbering technology and fully protect the said documents.
In accordance with the universally used art of technology , new concept based sophisticated numbering technique using special style of hand engraved numerals and method of printing have been designed .
Further, sequential numbers of select group of numbers ie numerals ( Fonts ) are printed on the bank notes and currencies by the use of special numbering boxes holding specially engraved number wheels, because the numbering of the documents form one of the most accepted and trusted form of security feature.
Typically, such numbering boxes are fitted on sophisticated numbering machines having special attachment to hold such boxes. The numbering boxes consist of several wheels containing engraved numerals which automatically rotate to keep in readiness the next serial number to number the next sheet that follows the previously numbered sheet. Thus the numbering of each sheet continues till the entire numbering process is completed.
Further, one of the disadvantage of the use of such universally used art of technology is that they are prone to high risk of counterfeiting, the reason being numbering boxes with similar style of numerals ( Fonts ) are commercially available with the printers engaged in the non security printing.
Further, style of numerals ( Fonts ) that closely resemble the style of numerals ( Fonts ) used for the numbering of the bank notes and the currencies in a country are also used by the international state owned agencies engaged in the production of their own security documents.
Further, the counterfeiting is a form of piracy that seriously damage the state economy in terms of respect to the Bank notes and Currencies issued by them in the eyes of international community. Further, the credibility and the value of Bank note and
Currency is also lost in the presence of the counterfeited documents and therefore is important for the states to protect the security documents produced by them.
Accordingly, the present invention provides new style of numerals, hereto unavailable for use either with the security printers or with the non security printers.
Further, the present invention coupled with new technique and art of engraving in numbering through improved model of
machineries, hereto unused in the industry in the art of numbering, when adapted will prevent the counterfeiters from producing Bank notes, security documents involving numbering . Further, the invention provides for the use of special hand engraved numbering wheels as per country specific requirement. In accordance with the invention the numbers i.e the each body of the numeral is to be split into two parts, one as Male and the other as Female portion.
Accordingly - one set of numbering wheels will hold the entire Female group of the numerals and the (half portion) other set of the numbering wheels in another box will hold the second half of the numeral i.e Male portion.
Further, when both the Male and the Female portions of the numerals ( Numbers ) are printed just one above the other, the complete image of the numeral (Font ) will appear.
Further more, based on the size of the numerals and design required, the Male- Female engraved numbering wheels will be manufactured taking into account the sizes of the fitment areas on the numbering machines. The size and style of the numerals will vary as per the country specific requirement.
Typically, the Male- Female combination of the numbering boxes holding the special character wheels will be mounted on the machines modified for holding such sets of Male- Female
numbering boxes in a row, instead of holding only one set of box containing complete numbers.
Further, based on the requirement of the numbering style the existing numbering machines will be modified to hold the MaIe- Female wheels with electronic attachments connecting both Male-
Female numbering wheels to move in unison simultaneously to print the same numbers in half portions thereby causing the appearance of completed numeral as per the design.
According to this invention, the electronic gadgets will move the wheels in both the numbering boxes in such a manner - say for example while numbering numeral six- both the Male - Female wheels will come to the same numbering position with respective half portions of the same numeral six (6) to cause figure six (6) when printed. Accordingly, the primary objective of the invention is to make it possible to the common public to easily identify the counterfeit Bank notes/ Currencies and Security documents numbered by this unique technique.
Still another object of the invention is to prevent counterfeiting of the Bank notes/ Currencies and Security documents by the universally used art of technology for similar numerals since similar such specially designed numbering boxes will not be freely available in open markets.
Yet another object is to provide numbering with two different boxes i.e Male- Female, in front and back with mirror and non mirror images or with two boxes i.e Male- Female, in two distinct
colors in the front side itself, so that it will not be . possible to counterfeit the documents using the existing numbering boxes available throughout the world.
Still another object is, to deter the counterfeiters from even think of venturing into such an exercise in view of high cost of investment to prepare such a complicated system and Male- Female combination of numbering wheels in boxes .
Further object taken into consideration has been that, specially designed machineries will be required to produce such new numbering technique invented as the perfect registration of prints will be beyond their scope to do with the universally used art of technology .
Yet another object is to ensure that It will not be possible to procure such numbering boxes by any individual as the same will be supplied only to those to whom the design has been specially developed i.e country specific or firm specific numerals like patented style.
Further objective of the invention is that the system can be engaged for numbering of all types of Bank notes and Currencies apart from the Cheques, some of the select Security documents where the numbering takes place, and for numbering the lottery tickets.
Further object is also to enable the replacement of the universally used orthodox prefix characters that appear before the numerals, with the invented style of prefix letters if so required at any time using Male- Female combination.
At the onset of the description which follows , it is to be understood that the ensuing description only illustrates a particular form of this invention. However such an invention is only an exemplary embodiment , and without intending to imply any limitation to the scope of this invention. Accordingly the
description is to be understood as an exemplary embodiment and not intended to be taken restrictively.
According to the invented technique the system be called "
Mirror Numring " or " Halftnoon Numring " meaning splitting the body of a numeral into two portions i.e Male- Female and linking them together to give readable form of numerals.
igg||(!§§|show both the types of techniques to give ultimate appearance of the numbers achievable by the use of two types of numbering boxes, Male- Female with suitable modification on the machines to hold them . According to the invention, the following describes the two types of process which can be employed to achieve the intended results . (A ) Halfmoon Num'ring by the use of two different numbering boxes -Male- Female for numbering both sides of the documents in one pass. Accordingly the Male portions of the numerals engraved on the number wheels will be used for the back side of the document, in a colour and pattern as per the design selected .For the front side the Female portions of the same style of numerals as used for the front side, engraved on the wheels will be used to give readable image .
Further, when both the numbering boxes leave the inked image on the document- readable image on the front side and non
readable image on the back side both registering in perfection- it will show completeness of the numerals when viewed against light (B ) Halfmoon Num'ring using two different numbering boxes - Male- Female , both to be printed in the front side only having partial portions of the numerals as per the design selected for numbering. Both will be printed in the front side itself in two distinct colours to give multi colour readable image in the front side The one important embodiment of the technique is the typical designs used on the numerals (Fonts ).
