Abstract

 透明基板(31)上にトランジスタおよび画素電極並びに信号線が形成されたアクティブマトリクス基板(3)と、透明基板(32)上に共通電極が形成されたカラーフィルタ基板(30)と、両基板(3・30)間に配された液晶材(40)と、アクティブマトリクス基板(3)およびカラーフィルタ基板(30)に接触する球状のメインスペーサ(2m)とを備えた液晶パネルにおいて、アクティブマトリクス基板(3)表面には、透明基板(31)からの距離が、この透明基板からアクティブマトリクス基板(3)表面とメインスペーサ(2m)との接触部までの距離よりも小さくされたサブスペーサ領域(SA)が設けられており、このサブスペーサ領域(SA)と重なるように球状のサブスペーサ(2s)が配されている。こうすれば、低温下等において液晶材が収縮しても液晶気泡が発生し難い液晶パネルを実現することができる。
