Abstract

A membrane separation apparatus that without increasing of solid contents concentration causing damage to filter membrane, realizes removing of suspended matter sticking to the filter membrane and realizes recovery of suspended matter with a low water content. The membrane separation apparatus has a membrane module provided with a filter membrane adapted so that in the state of being immersed in a liquid to be treated containing suspended matter, the membrane allows the liquid to unidirectionally pass therethrough to thereby attain filtration. The membrane separation apparatus is characterized by comprising a lifting means for lifting the membrane module from the liquid to the exterior thereof, and a removing recovery means for removing and recovering any sticking suspended matter from the filter membrane of the membrane module having been lifted to the exterior by the lifting means.
