Abstract

An authentication method for a terminal by which the user can more securely and comfortably receive the provision of a service by alleviating the operational burden of the user while maintaining the security to improve the convenience of the user is provided. A GW device (relay device) (4) for authenticating a portable telephone (1) is provided between the portable telephone (1) connected to each of a network (3) and an in-house LAN (6) which are different networks and an AP server device (5) for executing the application that the portable telephone (1) can use. If attempting to make a connection to the AP server device (5), the portable telephone (1) transmits user information such as a user ID and password and operation verification information including the operation record of the portable telephone itself and environment information such as peripheral devices to the GW device (4). The GW device (4) integrates the verification of the connection to the in-house LAN (6) to which the AP server device (5) of the portable telephone (1) is connected with user authentication in the AP server device (5) using the user information for execution on the basis of the operation verification information.
