Description
Method for Cleaning of a Powder Coating Housing and a Powder Coating Housing
The invention relates to a method for cleaning the inner part of a powder coating housing whereupon water and air are used for cleaning the powder coating housing in order to implement the above mentioned method, which housing comprises even inner surfaces that are easy to keep clean, a bottom part that is arranged to direct the mass that has accumulated on the bottom to a collecting basin or to a collecting hole for example due to declivity, comprises a nozzle arrangement in order to spray powder to a housing room, comprises an open hole arrangement on the roof and fenestrated end surfaces that can be closed.
From a Japanese publication JP 9314028 an equipment is previously known in order to speed up the changing of the paint of the powder coating housing in which publication the cleaning of the inner surface of the housing with the help of a water spraying is described and after that the drying of the inner surfaces with the help of a hot air blowing is described.
A powder coating housing, which has a moveable spraying equipment of the colour powder and a moveable sucking equipment on its opposite side is known from the publication EP 0369484 Bl which both equipments can be taken away from the operating location of the housing whereupon the walls of the housing located at the operating location can be cleaned with the help of water showers.
A cleaning equipment of the powder coating housing is known from the publication GB 2298152 A which equipment comprises water spraying devices on the upper part of the housing in order to clean the inner walls of the housing and the hot air blowing devices in order to dry up the housing.
The known solutions described above have fixed water spraying devices and fixed air blowing equipments whereupon their cleaning and drying effect does not reach effectively all the inner parts of the housing. The collecting of the powder that can be cleaned away from the walls is only then possible when the powder is wet whereupon it is hard to process it and it is difficult to get it back to be dry powder. The placement of the cleaning
equipment of the housing fixed to the housing to its upper part takes room, causes the formation of forms and holes, which are difficult to keep clean, to the housing and leads to a large amount of water to be sprayed in order to achieve a good cleaning result.
With the help of the method according to the invention a significant improvement to the cleaning result is achieved and the cleaning process can be performed fast and automatically. It is characteristic of the method according to the invention that at the first stage of the cleaning air is blown to the inner surfaces of the housing with the help of a moveable blowing device, such as with a blowing frame that is equipped with nozzle holes and the loosened powder is collected to be stored by letting it drop to a collecting channel through a hole located on the bottom of the housing from where it is further sucked out; at the second stage of the cleaning water jets are directed to the inner surfaces of the housing with the help of the mentioned moveable frame and water and the wet mass is directed to another collecting channel through a hole located on the bottom of the housing which collecting channel is moved to the same location as the hole; and at the third stage of the cleaning process drying of the housing is performed by directing drying air to the housing through the moyeable blowing frame and it is sucked out from the housing through the collecting channel after which the blowing frame is taken out from the housing.
It is characteristic of the device according to the invention that the blowing frame equipped with nozzle holes belongs to the cleaning device of the housing which blowing frame is moveable in the housing in direction of the conveyor and an arrangement belongs to the nozzle frame for spraying air and water through its nozzles to the inner surfaces of the housing, further slanted surface belongs to the cleaning device which surface is arranged to the bottom part of the housing the meaning of which surface is to direct the loose mass existing on the bottom part to the collecting canalisation through a hole located on the bottom of the housing and an arrangement for moving the collecting canalisation, like for shifting the canalisation with each other to the location of the hole or an arrangement belongs to the system in order to direct the mass accumulated in the canalisation in such a way that dry mass containing powder can be directed to a different target than the mass containing water.
The advantage of the invention is the fact that the cleaning equipment is totally separate in
relation to the housing and that the equipment does not cause any forms onto the inner surfaces of the housing that might disturb the cleaning of these surfaces. Showers, which can be created with the cleaning devices, can he directed very close to the surfaces to be cleaned with the help of a blowing frame according to the invention whereupon the cleaning effect becomes essentially more effective in relation to the previous solutions. The colour powder that becomes loose duriag the cleaning can be collected when it is dry whereupon it is easy to return to be recycled. The wet colour powder mass that became loose during the wet cleaning of the housing can be collected separately with the help of a separate collecting arrangement and it does not get mixed with the dry colour powder that became loose earlier.
In the following the invention is explained more detailed by referring to the accompanying drawing in which Pigure 1 shows a powder coating housing according to the invention seen as a diagonal view. Figure 2 shows a powder coating housing of the figure 1 as a profile seen from the top.
There is a powder coating housing 1 in the figure 1 that comprises side walls, fenestrated ends 11 equipped with doors 10, a roof equipped with an open hole 13 and a slanted bottom 17 that leads to a longitudinal bottom hole 5. The side walls have holes 19 through which the colour powder is sprayed during the painting process through the nozzles 20 to the pieces existing in the housing 1. The pieces to be painted are hung through the housing 1 them being supported by the conveyer 18. The doors 10 are then kept open.
In the method according to the invention the cleaning of the inner surfaces 14 associated with the changing of the colour powder is made in three stages whereupon at the first stage the doors 10 are closed and air showers are blown through the blowing frame 2 through the nozzles 3 onto the surfaces that exist at their location. Compressed-air feeding is joined to the blowing frame 2 and the mentioned frame is moved in the longitudinal direction of the housing whereupon the side walls become clean due to air showers. At the ends of the housing the blowing frame 2 is turned in such a way, most advantageously half a round whereupon the inner surfaces of the end walls 11 become clean. The blowing
frame 2 is supported through a hole 13 of the roof of the housing and it is moved directed also by these support devices. Also the nozzles 20 can be drawn away from the holes 19 and the holes 19 can be closed for example with the help of moveable closing gates (not shown).
There is a collecting channel 7 underneath the housing 1 to which collecting channel colouring powder runs down to slanted surfaces 17 through a hole 5 during the cleaning process. Low pressure and a strong stream, at least more than 0,5 m3/s., is sucked to a channel 7 with the help of a blower and the air containing colouring powder is directed further to a cyclone in which the colouring powder becomes separated from the air and it is gathered to be stored,
At the second stage of the cleaning water is sprayed through the blowing frame 2 onto the surfaces to be cleaned- The channel 8 is changed to be the collecting channel underneath the housing 1 by moving the collecting basin 6 in such a way that that the channel 8 will be under the hole 5. The blowing frame 2 has a parallel pipe system and the pipe system has nozzles for water or the water is sprayed with the air showers by using the same pipe system and the same nozzles 3. The blowing frame 2 is moved like during air blowing. The water that has accumulated to the bottom part of the channel 8 can be pumped away from there and can be directed for example filtered with the help of a filter to be recycled. Air is sucked out simultaneously from the housing 1 through a channel 8.
At the third stage of the cleaning process the drying air is blown to the inner surfaces with the help of the blowing frame 2. The drying air is air that has or has not been warmed up. The collecting channel is still the channel 8 through which air can be sucked away from the housing.
From the drawing 2 the crosscut of the housing 1 and the support of the blowing frame 2 that is shown diagrammatic can be seen. The blowing frame 2 is moved in a direction of the housing 1 by moving a boom 15. The boom 15 is moveable in such a way that the blowing frame 2 can be removed from the housing. Turning of the blowing frame 2 half a round can be made with the help of a cylinder 16, If the same pipe system of the blowing
frame 2 is used to spray air and water, the valves 20 and 21 are attached to the feed line whereupon the agent to be blown can be changed, when needed.
Cleaning is efficient when the blowers 3 blow onto the surfaces quite near to them. An alternative to the canalisation arrangement 7, 8 can be one channel only at the location of the hole 5 and an exchange valve at the end of the channel or a branch-T with valves at it whereupon the dry air and the powder removed from the housing can be directed to a different line than the wet powder and the drying air.
