Abstract

【課題】2つの対物レンズを経由した各ディスクからの反射光を光検出器の受光面上に適正に収束させ得る光ピックアップ装置を提供する。 【解決手段】複屈折素子15は、偏光ビームスプリッタ14からHD用対物レンズ21に向かう際(往路)のレーザ光の偏光方向(P偏光)と、HD用対物レンズ21から偏光ビームスプリッタ14に向かう際(復路)のレーザ光の偏光方向(S偏光)とで屈折率が相違する。このため、往路と復路とで、レーザ光の光路に光路差ΔLが生じる。この光路差ΔLが、HDからの反射光の収束位置のずれ量ΔLpdに一致する複屈折素子15をガラス板40に替えて配置することにより、HDからの反射光を光検出器28の受光面上に適正に収束させることができる。
