  • the material distribution is monitored, and control automatics take care that each outlet pipe is all the time full of' material, and that carbon monoxide has no access to the preheating furnace through the outlet pipes from the smelting furnace.
  • the heating of material in the sub-silos is carried out by a gas mixture fed therein through gas ducts 10.
  • the preheating furnace 1 comprises a first sub-silo 3 and a second sub-silo 6.
  • the first sub-silo 3 has a first outlet pipe 4 for conducting the material to a first inlet conduit 5 of the smelting furnace 2, which conduit 5 is located in the upper part of the smelting furnace, at a distance from the center of the smelting furnace.

  • the second flow of preheated material is conducted from the second sub-silo ⁇ along the second outlet pipe 7 to the second inlet conduit 8 of the smelting furnace with a second volume flow that is defined from the material downward-flowing rate at said point of the smelting furnace, and is thus larger than the first volume flow, because the material in the preheating furnace is settled slower in the periphery, at a distance from the center, than in the vicinity of the center.
  • the volume of the second sub-silo 6 is larger than the volume of the first sub-silo 3, in which case a longer residence time is obtained for the material in the second sub-silo 6, and the temperatures of the first and second material flows are rendered essentially equally high.

Abstract

Dans un procédé pour introduire dans un four de fusion (2) des écoulements de matière provenant d'un four de préchauffage (1), on prévoit un four de préchauffage (1) qui présente au moins deux sous-silos, notamment un premier sous-silo (3) doté d'un premier tube de sortie (4) qui amène la matière vers un premier conduit d'entrée (5) du four de fusion (2), ledit conduit d'entrée (5) étant situé à distance du centre du four de fusion dans la partie supérieure du four, et un deuxième sous-silo (6) qui présente un deuxième tube de sortie (7) qui amène la matière vers un deuxième conduit d'entrée (8) du four de fusion, ledit conduit d'entrée (8) étant situé au voisinage du centre du four de fusion dans la partie supérieure du four. La matière est chauffée dans les sous-silos (3, 6) par introduction dans les deux sous-silos de quantités d'énergie thermique essentiellement identiques par rapport au débit volumique déchargé dudit silo. Un premier écoulement de matière est acheminé vers le premier conduit d'entrée à un premier débit volumique qui est défini par le débit d'écoulement de matière vers le bas audit point du four de fusion. Un deuxième écoulement de matière est acheminé vers le deuxième conduit d'entrée à un deuxième débit volumique qui est défini par le débit d'écoulement de matière vers le bas audit point du four et qui est supérieur au premier débit volumique. Le temps de séjour d'une unité de volume de l'écoulement de matière dans le deuxième sous-silo (6) est ajusté de manière à être supérieur à celui dans le premier sous-silo (3), de sorte que les températures du premier et du deuxième écoulement de matière sont amenées à être sensiblement élevées et identiques.
