Abstract

There is a need to realize a power acquiring unit wherein the power acquired from an illuminating apparatus for which the power acquiring unit is provided can be always maximized without knowing beforehand the characteristic of the illuminating apparatus and that of a magnetic substance. A power acquiring apparatus determines a DC voltage for a current load and for a current number of turns, and selects, based on the determined DC voltage, a number of turns of the coil that can always achieve the maximum acquired power for the AC current flowing in a fluorescent lamp to which a power acquiring unit is provided and for the characteristic of a magnetic substance used in the power acquiring unit.
