Abstract

 各画素形成部における黒挿入駆動のための構成が簡単であって、黒表示後も黒表示前の表示状態を簡単に復元可能なアクティブマトリクス型の表示装置を提供するため、本表示装置の画素形成部にカップリング容量(9)を設け、走査信号線(6)に対して平行にカップリング線(8)を設けて適宜の電圧で駆動することにより、カップリング容量(9)を介して駆動用素子(2)のゲート電圧を簡単に黒表示となる電圧に設定でき、このカップリング容量(9)は小さくTFTよりも簡単に形成することができる。また、駆動用素子(2)のゲート電圧を黒表示となる電圧に設定するためのカップリング線(8)の電位変化と同じ変化量で逆方向にカップリング線(8)の電位を変化させることにより、黒表示後も黒表示前の表示状態に対応するデータ信号電位となるよう上記ゲート電圧を簡単に復元することができる。
