Abstract
This invention provides an electrode for an electric double layer capacitor which can provide a capacitor suitable for high power high speed charging and discharging by virtue of its sufficiently reduced internal resistance. The electrode for an electric double layer capacitor is characterized in that it comprises a laminate of an active material layer and a current collector, the active material layer having been formed by molding an electrode material containing granulated particles containing an electrode active material, an electroconductive aid, and a binder, and the electrode material further contains a fibrous electroconductive aid on the outside of the granulated particles. The electrode for an electric double layer capacitor can be produced by a process comprising the step of granulating an electrode active material, an electroconductive aid, and a binder to give granulated particles, the step of covering at least a part of the surfaces of the granulated particles with a fibrous electroconductive aid to give composite particles, the step of subjecting an electrode material containing the composite particles to dry molding to form an active material layer, and the step of stacking the active material layer and a current collector.
