Abstract

Various aspects can be implemented to provide a phone-based system for identifying broadcast audio streams and broadcast audio sources. In general, one aspect can be a method that includes obtaining a broadcast stream that includes one or more broadcast segments, and associating each broadcast segment with a broadcast timestamp. The method also includes receiving an audio sample through a user-initiated telephone connection for a predetermined period of time. The method further includes comparing the received audio sample with a database comprising a plurality of pre-processed audio samples, and obtaining a matching pre-processed audio sample that most closely correlates to the received audio sample. Other implementations of this aspect include corresponding systems, apparatus, and computer program products.
