Abstract

 電気光学効果を有するXカット基板を用いた光導波路型デバイスにおいて、制御電極が形成する電界による変調効率を向上させた光導波路型デバイスを提供することを目的とする。  電気光学効果を有し、Xカット基板1と、該基板上に形成された光導波路2と、該光導波路内を導波する光波を制御する、信号電極3と接地電極4からなる制御電極とを有する光導波路型デバイスにおいて、該光導波路を挟むように配置された該信号電極と該接地電極の少なくとも一方の底面は、該光導波路が形成された上面に対して低い位置(高低差d)にあることを特徴とする。
