Abstract

A software license management system in which the number of license contracts of increasing software can be suppressed to cut the cost is provided. The software license management system comprises a license file (202) for storing the name of software, the number of the remaining total licenses, and measurement unit time and a license management tool (201) for, according to a license request from a client, reading information in the license file (202), judging the presence/absence of the number of remaining total licenses, rejecting the license request when the number of remaining total licenses is not found, and permitting the license request when the number of remaining total licenses is found. The client transmits the number of use licenses to the license management tool (201) for each measurement unit time. The license management tool (201) reads the information in the license file (202), subtracts the number of use licenses from the number of remaining total licenses, and judges the presence/absence of the number of remaining total licenses.
