Abstract

 薄型化を実現することができ、輝度を均一にしてコントラストを向上させることができるレーザ背面照射装置及び液晶表示装置を提供する。  レーザ背面照射装置100は、レーザ光源1と、レーザ光源1から出射されたレーザ光を複数に分岐する分岐光学系101と、光強度を二次元的に変調する液晶パネル5を背面から照明する複数の照明光学系102とを備え、複数の照明光学系102は、分岐光学系101によって分岐された複数のレーザ光を拡大して、複数の領域に分割された液晶パネル5の各領域をそれぞれ照明する。
