Abstract

A bone disease evaluation system includes a radiation source which applies radiation, a detector which detects a phase contrast image of the radiation applied from the radiation source to a subject including bones and transmitted through the bone, a joint recognition part which recognizes the joint part of the bone from the phase contrast image, a region of interest setting part which sets a region of interest consisting of the joint part recognized by the joint recognition part, a radiation intensity information detection part which detects radiation intensity information on each pixel within the region of interest set by the region of interest setting part, a maximum radiation intensity information obtaining part which obtains maximum radiation intensity information out of the radiation intensity information on each pixel detected by the radiation intensity information detection part, and an index calculation part which calculates an index indicating the degree of the disease according to the maximum radiation intensity information within the region of interest obtained by the maximum radiation intensity information obtaining part.
