Abstract
画像データを1次元サブバンド符号化により圧縮する際、まず画像データを1次元サブバンド符号化にしたがった低周波成分と高周波成分に分離してフィルタ係数を算出するとともに、算出した低周波成分と高周波成分に係るフィルタ係数についてスラント変換(SLT)をベースにしたフィルタ係数予測を行う。この場合、算出された現ラインの低周波成分と高周波成分に係る各フィルタ係数の予測を行うためにラインメモリに保持された前ラインで算出された低周波成分と高周波成分に係るフィルタ係数の予測値を参照してフィルタ係数毎に異なる予測手段に切り替えて予測を行う。このような予測方法を採ることにより予測誤差の少ない予測を少ない計算量で実現することができ、1次元サブバンド符号化を採る画像データの圧縮であっても画質および圧縮率を向上させることができる。
