Abstract

The present invention provides a solution to keep the usage within a data session as much as possible. It achieves this by steering the outbound roaming device back to the previous network A when the device is trying to switch network A to another network B while the usage of the data session by the outbound roaming device is. below a certain threshold in the current session. It also attempts to keep the session alive by sending alive packets to the VPMN SGSN when the usage by the outbound roaming device is below certain threshold in the current session and the session is about to be expired by the VPMN SGSN.
