  • a high melting point silicone of the type used in various cooking implements or protective mitts is a preferred material for the heat resistant portion of the towel.
  • Other heat resistant elastomeric materials may also be used, such as for example santoprene or neoprene.
  • Leather may be used for the heat resistant material, although this is less desirable because it cannot be washed in an automatic washer.
  • the surface of the heat resistant material may be molded into any desired shape that may assist the user in grasping hot items. For example, as shown in Fig. IB, the heat resistant material (14) can be molded with a plurality of raised knobs (18) to provide improved friction for gripping.
  • the absorbent material may be provided in any desired proportion relative to the heat resistant material.
  • the absorbent material may comprise 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or any other desired proportion of the overall towel, preferably, the absorbent material will comprise 1/2 or more of the towel.
  • the towel may be provided in any shape.
  • the towel of Fig. IA is generally triangular in shape.
  • the invention is not limited in this regard, and the towel may be rectangular, square, round or any other shape.
  • the heat resistant material may also be any desired shape.
  • the shape of the heat resistant material is preferably chosen to allow easy grasping of hot implements such as pot handles, cooking racks, etc.
  • the heat resistant material is preferably fixedly attached to the absorbent material.
  • the heat resistant material may be attached to the absorbent material by stitching, heat bonding, insert molding, adhesives or any other method known to those skilled in the art.
  • the border strip (16) is used to attach the absorbent material to the heat resistant material.
  • the border strip (16) covers the end of the absorbent portion (12) and a tapered end (22) of the heat resistant portion (14).
  • the border strip is stitched to both the absorbent material and the heat resistant material using stitching (20).
  • the towel (30) comprises an absorbent portion (32) and two heat resistant portions (34) on opposite ends of the towel.

  • the edge of the heat resistant material includes a channel for receiving the edge of the absorbent material. The edge of the absorbent material is inserted into the channel and fixed in position by glue, heat bonding or stitching.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un torchon double matière utilisée dans une cuisine, par exemple. Ledit torchon comporte une portion absorbante et une portion résistant à la chaleur.
