Abstract

A radio transmitting apparatus (1) generates mutually orthogonal signal sequences from the same transport symbol sequence, weight adds the generated signal sequences in such a manner that generates mutually orthogonal beams (#0,#1), and transmits the weight added signal sequences in the orthogonal beams. A radio receiving apparatus demodulates the signal components of the respective orthogonal beams (#0,#1) of the signals received from the radio transmitting apparatus (1), and combines the demodulation results to reproduce the transport symbol sequence. In this way, even if the transmission antenna interval of the radio transmitting apparatus (1) is narrow, a desired diversity effect can be obtained in the radio receiving apparatus, so that the size of the radio transmitting apparatus (1) can be reduced.
