Abstract

A wireless transmission apparatus which can be applied to two communication systems whose communication methods are different from each other, is small in size and has a high power-efficiency. The wireless transmission apparatus (100) includes amplifier output switching switches (107a, 107b), a combiner (108), and an antenna input switching switch (109) between amplifiers (106a,106b) and antennas (110a, 110b). When transmitting a signal of the first communication system whose maximum transmission power is high, the amplifiers (106a,106b) are operated as a non-linear amplifier, the outputs of the respective amplifiers are combined by the combiner (108), and the amplifiers are operated as an amplifier for a LINC system which uses only one antenna (110a) for transmission. When transmitting a signal of the second communication system whose maximum transmission power is low, the amplifiers (106a,106b) are operated as a linear amplifier and MIMO transmission is performed using two antennas (110a, 110b).
