Abstract

The invention relates to arrangement of a tray (18) in a storage compartment (12) on a motor vehicle, said tray (18) having a flat surface (20) and guidance means (24, 28) for sliding the above between two extreme positions: a first stowage position in which the tray is stored in the compartment essentially horizontally and a second in-use position in which the tray is slid out of the storage compartment thereof and pivoted about an axis (26) essentially transverse in a manner such that the flat surface thereof is in an essentially vertical plane so that a user may use the same as a document holder, characterised in that the tray comprises locking means (30, 36) in this second position which allow a locking by sliding the tray vertically such as to allow access, for example, to certain controls (14,16) located above or below the storage compartment for the tray.
