Abstract
A face image acquiring system is provide with an overlooking camera for photographing a person as an overlook and a plurality of checking cameras for photographing a face, wherein the person's head portion is detected from the overlook camera and its position is sought. A checking camera that can photograph an image suitable for face checking is selected from a relationship between the position of the person and the positions of the checking cameras and the face checking is carried out by making use of images of such a checking camera. It is suitable to select a checking camera in which, concretely, a subject person is not hidden by other persons and to determine it based on whether the subject person rightly faces the checking camera. With this, a camera that is possible to photograph an image suitable for face checking can be selected from a plurality of cameras.
