Abstract

The invention relates to a miniature X-ray source comprising a vacuum tube containing a cathode and an anode spaced apart from each other, and guiding means for guiding electrons and/or ions to prevent the electrons and/or ions from impacting at least a part of a wall of the vacuum tube, e.g. at the wall of the vacuum tube in a region of the vacuum tube where, in use, an electric field is present.
